master kush wax

  1. Looks and sounds to be very medicating.

  2. stuff puts you down for a couple of hours. Heavy indica

  3. God damn im so jealous. I've always wanted to try wax.

How would you say it compares to bho?

  4. Well its just a different consistency, so the way it melts on the nail and taste are a bit smoother and tastier. Make sure to get some wax when you get a chance. FIRE.:smoke:

  5. Well I live in ny and the only way I have bho is because I make it. I don't think I can make wax. I figured it would probably taste better

Just purge it on a pyrex pan with warm water under it nd whip it up my dude

  7. ^No whipping allowed.

I cannot stress this enough. do. not. whip.

  8. That looks delicious. lol

  9. Haven't dabbed yet, want too try it though!

  10. Really, why not? To make wax I've always just ran a normal extraction onto a pyrex dish that was sitting in warm water, then whipped the shit out of it and purged it with a hand pump. Repeat this like 1000 times and you'll be left with some dank wax that's almost a peanut buttery consistency. I've smoked my fair share of wax/oil and I'd estimate the homemade stuff to be like 80% cannabinoids and little to no butane left. Better than any of the shit people pay like $50+ a gram for at dispensaries, and this stuff costs less than $15 a gram to make

  11. It's been explained like a bajillion times in the bho & hash threads; but whipping just causes a bunch of nasties.
First off, when you whip you help incorporate MUCH more atmospheric moisture into your oil matrix, and moisture does NOT make for good dabbin'. Another thing is you're oxidizing and degrading a lot of the compounds in the oil matrix, particularly the cannabinoids, but also terpenes, flavonoids etc.
The biggest thing with whipping is that with all the moisture and agitation you're unnecessarily adding, you create a very large probability for unwanted (and so far unexplored) side reactions happening, for all we know, whipping polymerizes molecules in the oil and turns them to plastic (although that particular scenario is *somewhat* unlikely).

And if you don't want to believe any of this, just ask yourself this "what can I POSSIBLY gain from whipping vs. what dangers can come from it". Exactly. Whipping does nothing but "make it cool to play with"

Also: that "peanut butter" consistency you describe indicates left over solvent. Rather the color does. If your finished product isn't translucent , chances are you got 'tane and/or moisture!

Also, to further clarify, whipping can't make wax. When you whip BHO you turn it into budder, and budder is no bueno. Wax is made under the vacuum when all of the resins & paraffins, lipids, fats, etc solidify in place under a vacuum pull. Wax has that "swiss cheese" look to it, while budder looks like... well.... peanut butter.

  12. Fair enough, I guess I learned something today.

I'm confused about the moisture thing though- I don't have any scientific basis for this but I've found that the budder/wax that's been whipped and vacuum pumped is a hell of a lot smoother and more flavorful than the stuff that's just been vacuum pumped.

And as for the benefit of whipping (and once again, I don't know much about the science behind it) I was under the impression that there are bubbles of butane within the wax and whipping it bursts these bubbles, whereas before they'd have to pop on their own. A way to speed up the purging process, I guess. You can see this happen in freshly ran oil, let it sit for a minute and it will bubble up but most of the time the bubbles won't actually pop.

And I know whipping alone can't make wax- everything was vacuum pumped for excessive periods of time.

But thanks for bringing all this to my attention. I'm gonna ask the guy who commissioned me to make commercial quantities of wax (like ounces upon ounces) what his thought on all this is.

EDIT: and are you saying that waxes should be translucent? Cause apart from shatter and some oil, I've never seen a translucent concentrate

  13. Flavorful yes, because you're oxidizing the terpenoids, which makes them more flavorful for a very short time (try budder 3 days after it's made vs oil/shatter 3 days after it's made.... yeah the budder will taste like nothing)

Yes, these microscopic bubbles do exist in the oleoresin matrix... however whipping your oil doesn't get them out. Hence the term: microscopic. The best way to remove this trace solvent is to vacuum purge, that's why your mass of oil expands under vacuum, it's the disolved gasses expanding and leaving the matrix.

Still not true wax; if it's peanut-buttery, it's budder, if it's agitated it's budder. Wax just sort of "happens" sometimes when product cools too much while being pulled by the vac.

Waxes & budders aren't' going to be translucent; but I've seen plenty of transparent shatter and oil that's been that way.
What I'm saying is that there is no reason to want wax or budder over shatter or oil. True, the latter are harder to handle (a bit) but the health benefits should outweigh the potential "lazyness" of wanting an "easy concentrate".
Head on over to the show your hash/oil thread and check out the pics there, there are some that show what I mean. And yes, if it's not translucent, I'm immediately weary and doubtful of said concentrate's purity.

    Good Growing and Happy Toking!

  14. This stuff has great consistency.
