Master Bator Bagseed grow Box

Discussion in 'Micro Grows' started by Master Bator, Sep 15, 2012.

  1. I have held off on doing a grow journal due to security. but I don't see that being an issue anymore.

A couple months ago i had these seeds i tried germinating but i did it way wrong and they didn't go

I did a lot more research this time around and re germinated the seeds while i built a grow box.

I have absolutely very little money and i want to know the best places to spend my money (on the grow)

My grow box is 17x14.5x14 inches. Its fairly small but i plan on LSTing.

Since this is a first grow its going to be a learning experience. I am constantly reading and looking up new info on growing and techniques and caring for the plant and what not.

I will try my best to get pictures

The box is lined with an emergency blanket for reflection.
i have 2-13 watt CFL lights on it right now. ( i had 4 but it gets too hot in there)
I have an exhaust hole cut that i had a pc fan in, but i fried the fan. so now im waiting for more money.

I have a carbon filter made up, but im trying to figure out the best way to hook it up

Currently the plant is on Day 10. It is growing really fast but somehow i feel like it would grow a lot faster with more lights.

I use tap water without PH testing it, but i let it sit out overnight to let the chlorine and whatever else evaporate.

I just bought Nutrients and I'm going to give it some today.

I noticed spidermites and have tried treating them and i don't see them back again, but i will be keeping a close eye.

Im trying to get my hands on some more seeds incase this is a male. but i don't know if my lighting setup can handle two plants.

Currently on the lookout for more items to use as a grow box. I live with my parents, but i rent a garage on the other side of town, where the grow currently is. but it is starting to get cold at night and i think im going to have to migrate the grow to my closet

I'll try to get pictures later.

Always open to tips and suggestions.

  2. I'm subbing this. (get pics)

  3. We are doing IDENTICAL grows. You are 2 days ahead of me though!

  4. I know dude. The only advantage i have is that i have that garage im renting. so i have constructed my box here, so it was easier. and now the plant is growing here. but it will be getting to cold in a month or so and i will have to bring it home

I have to wait till next paycheck, hopefully, to get a fan setup. Im thinking of getting a 120mm one. Just one for an exhaust. i think the max lights im going to do is 4 CFL anyway

IM interested in seeing evidence of more cfl's getting a bigger yeild and if its worth it or not.

Whats the most effective way to setup cfl's in a micro grow. Ive changed my lighting setup so much im not sure what to settle on. The first setup was to spread out. Now i pretty much have 4 in a row.

I haven't seen the mites come back yet. Ive been spraying them with a 50/50 iso/water mix since i seen them. I take my plant out for about 10 minutes and set it in front of the fan to get some wind on it while the iso/water mix is evaporating.

I am noticing some yellow spots on one of the lone bladed leaves. The "Marijuana leaf" leaves are looking really healthy. The tips were curled down a bit. but after adding the nutrients (1/4 strength) and 2 more lights. they are pretty much straight now.

Im just worried about how giving the plant nutrients works when i got the soil that "feeds for six months"

  5. i have shultz potting soil with feed for up to six months. i think giving them nutes was a bad idea, cause i guess the soil already has it enough. Once i transplant to a new pot. I'll use regular soil. Cause i want to be able to flush this plant.

  6. My soil is Pre packed with nutes, but I'm not sure how much, or how long they will last... I don't even know the soil type.

I just water every 2 days, keep a steady veg with 18/6, temp around 75-80, I run a square room fan at night to renew the air.

Just basic stuff in a micro grow will give you results.

  7. Im really trying to get photo's up. Im hoping today. i just need to get them off my camera and on the computer. I already have a photobucket account.

    Ok.

    UPDATE.

    DAY 18.

Plant is looking healthy so far. Had the issues with the spider mites early on. Still continuing to watch for them. I started LST on Day 14. SO its only on day 4 of LST but its responding super well. The main stem is getting really thick, The inner/lower nodes are blooming like crazy.

It's really fun adjusting the LST and trying to figure the best way to do it. Im going to try and wrap mine around the brim of the cup. Im following Mr.Bear's PC grow thread for his LST techniques.

Temps are still an issue, so i keep the door open. I might go into 18/6 for what i think, will be the last week of veg. After this week i will go to flowing if she continues to grow at the current rate.

18/6 for a week and then 12/12 will be ok for flowing right?

Im going to be getting a fan setup again and try to get a carbon filter setup. Probably won't attach the filter until it starts smelling. if this plant is in fact a girl.

I Have a total of 4 lights. I just had 4 13 watt daylight bulbs. Now i have 2-13 watt and 2-23 watt. I know i probably don't have enough bulbs but the heat is really an issue. i want to see how much a fan is going to help. Im going cut an intake hole as well

since im an unsure of the nutrients in the soil. I have been giving it 1/4 strength nutes every second watering. plain water is used the other times.

The first two leaves that sprout in germination, were both yellow and dry and holey. So i cut them off. I hope that was ok. I just didn't want the plant wasting its energy on them.

  8. while adjusting LST. The top of the plant got tore a bit. so i decided to just rip it off. it would be considered topping more than anything i guess. but the whole damn top just came off. Let's see how the plant repsonds

    Its nonexistent now

  10. I just switched my plant to 12/12 due to spider mites. I want to at least see some real life bud formation before the mites totally take over. I am still trying to rid the mites, i havent given up. But i think due to my grow box design and the location of the box, spider mites are going to be inevitable.

I really learned a lot so far in doing this grow. I really want to grow big and better and proper next time.

Proper PH water, Proper Grow area, Proper Soil. I want to mother and clone with my next grow.

Anyone have any homemade tricks for getting rid of mites ?

  11. this grow probably won't last much longer as the spider mites and other is happening.

I took all the lst off since there is no point. might as well let the plant grow up now.

I also just discovered there is year round grow store in my city. So that gets me excited for my next grow, which im hoping to start in the winter.

  12. I don't think you want 70% humidity. I could be wrong but 30-40% should be good. Good ventilation and air circulation is good for plants of any kind.

  13. i took all the LST off. 70 percent humidity is too high. 40 is good which is where mine is

  14. My bad, I should of looked it up lol.

  15. That's a pretty healthy looking plant if you ask me. I wouldn't worry too much about the top being torn off; like you said, it's pretty much just like topping it.

Hope it's a female! Good luck!

It was healthy. Now she looks terrible. I don't actually know if i have spider mites. I never truly actually considered the possibility of it being too hot. I always looked at my thermometer and it was 84 degress.

Then i decided to put the thermometer up by where plant it. And it was reaching TEMPS OF 104!!!!

I think im ruining my plant, not spider mites

I have no money to spend on the grow. Ive spend to much already. Im in debt, so im going to get out of debt then come back to the growing came full swing

But im going to play this plant out. But i know it won't go anywhere. I turned two of the lights off and its colder days now. so that helps. Hopefully get the plant back and it might recover

But this isn't the end. I have the lights and nutrients and soil now. I just need a couple fans, a new grow box and i will try to grow in my bedroom in my closet. till i get my own place then i will do a bigger grow

  17. Ok. so i don't think i have/had spider mites. I unscrewed one of my bulbs to lower the temperature in the box. In doing so. In 3-5 days i saw the plant start to rebuild the burnt leaves. I have 4 separate leaves. I had a lot of growth. as from my pictures. but unfortunately i wasn't watching my temps and i ruined the potential of my plant.

Now im left with 4 budding sites. 3 of which are healthy/rebuilding and 1 which looks like it is dying.

Im trying to prolong watering now. im trying to really let the roots dry out so it can get the oxygen it needs.

Upon looking at my plant today. i notices white hairs. also known as pistils. I believe this to be the early stages of female production. i hope i am right

It is disappointing that something simple like the temp ruined my yeild. significantly (if i even get a yield).

I am just really really hoping to see real life bud formation. Ive sen it in pictures but i want to see it in real life.

    That is my next goal.

and if that happens. The goal after that is to see crystals forming. this is all so exciting for me.

Ive often thought of switching her back to 18/6 and trying to control her temps more and letting her grow out to get a bigger yeild

But where she is living right now won't be mine in a month and i don't want to sneak her in my mums house haha.

I should just let her do her thing and i will grow bigger and better next time

  18. sounds like you got the situation under control..seems like temps can really mess up a grow...any pics?

glad to hear the plant has recovered, best of luck homie!

  19. Lets see some pictures of this beast (if you will call it that =)

  20. damn. I'll have to get some more pictures.

She is left with only 3 budding sites. although a new "top" has started the form.

2 weeks into flowering. some pistils start. But shes putting all her energy into fixing her burnt leaves. so im switching it back to 18/6 till she is all healthy, then i will throw her back in veg

The temperature was getting to random to keep it at the old location.

So i brought it home in my closet. but it doesn't exactly blend in.
