Mars sp250 can i use this on seedlings without stretching or burning

  1. I know the light is adjustable but i dont know how low it goes and if its good to use on seedling any help from someone who knows would be appreciated Thank You

  2. Just keep it high (24" or higher) from the seedlings and it should be fine. SP250 has a good veg spectrum. I wouldn't bother with dimming if it comes with the same drivers as my TSL2000. Doesn't work very well. Just keep plenty of distance. Image attached is for the TSL2000, but should be around the same for the SP250.[IMG]

  3. You can own a lux meter or download from these applications to your phone.

  4. Sp250 dims better, it has a meanwell driver, the dim doesent work to well on my tsw2000 either tho with the mars drivers.

  5. so if i dim it down would 100 watts be to much for 6 fresh seedlings

  6. ive read that the 250 watts it puts out is to much and if i raise the light to much the plants will stretch

  7. Hey DyersEve726 how do you like that TSL2000 I was thinking of purchasing a few for my flower room.how are your yields with these lights?

  8. I'm on my first grow, so no report on yield yet, but if I was buying today, I would not buy it again. For the same or similar price you can get a lamp with genuine Samsung diodes and a Meanwell driver. It was the first item I bought and I didn't know better at the time. I now have two 288 Fissioning lamps and another 576 Fissioning on the way to replace the TSL. It's a decent lamp, just not a very good deal. If they were $200, I'd say they're worth the money. Not so at $300.

  9. Not to but in...
I use a pair of the tsl2000. I have harvested 4 plants using them, all autos. (all I grow atm)
For a turn key, plug it in and it just works type light, you can't go wrong. The fact you have it in two days, and 5 minutes is about the setup time for it is hard to beat.
3 year warranty as well is very nice in this day and age.

3 of my small autos all yielded a lightly over 3oz each, and a 4th is drying. Will know soon.

I have mine set up a bit different, as I don't need to maximize my space, I'd rather have room to work, sit down etc...

If I had it to do all over again, I'd buy these exact lights without a second thought. They have been flawless.

  10. My biggest problem is with the drivers. They don't dim well and they get INSANELY hot compared to the Meanwell equivalent. Hot enough to burn myself when I touched my forearms to them by accident. The Meanwell drivers barely get warm.

  11. Sp250 with a meanwell driver, week 2.5 of flower. Sp250 is also a little cheaper same coverage as the tsl2000, I also have a tsw2000 for my 3x3 I havent tried it out on any plants yet tho.

  12. I would prefer a knob for dimming the drivers, the little plug that covers the dimmer, I can see that getting lost.

As for heat, I am only running one light right now as I only have 2 plants left in flower, but the highest temp I have read on the driver itself is 142f. That's hot, but not burn you hot.
Is anyone aware of extension wiring that would allow remote mounting of the drivers? That would be nice for me when the Temps rise again in 6 months.again, they work superb for my setup and style, they are also out of my way for the most part, being long and skinny. I use one wall to grow against, I have the lights reflectors 10" for the wall that is 9 foot long. This allows me to fit 6 ten gallon pots with drip trays which is the max plants where I live, so again suits my situation well.

Also, I paid about 230 each delivered when I purchased the lights. It was under 500 delivered for 600w of led in a well made package.

  13. See, now that's a reasonable price. They're around $300 now, which I think is a ripoff. It's not like I got 3rd degree burns or anything, but it's hot enough to say "oh fuck!" when the soft skin on your arms touches it, lol. That's also wasted energy. I don't know the efficiency of these drivers, but it sure seems like a lot is lost to heat.

  14. T5 work amazingly well for seedlings and even veg. I have used them many times.
I still use a double bulb 24" fixture often. I can have it 1-2 inches from the leaves and not worry about burn.... Make sure they are a couple days old with true leaves before you do that tho... Lol.

    Good luck man.

  16. so what height should i start the light at i dont want my plants to stretch ive been reading b ut still dont know where to start any help is appreciated

  17. 12" till first leaves are out and seconds have started, then I goto abou 5" for a day or two, then even lower, or I let the plants grow closer and don't raise them till they're almost touching.
