Mars Hydro 3000w distances from canopy?

Discussion in 'Lighting' started by Markari, May 7, 2020.

  1. Has anyone used one of these lights? I got it cuz I fucked up my first grow with a cheap light and lack of knowledge about lighting. I was keeping it about 2’ above the canopy (plants about 2 weeks into veg) but am noticing either light burn or nitrogen deficiency, or maybe just imagining shit. The heat on my hand at that level is not too warm. So the ad on Amazon said it has a 4x4 footprint, and I’m in a 4x4 tent. What distance do others keep this light (or similar) from the canopy? Thanks.

  2. Is it a purple light? I’d start high n work my way down if I see stretching.

  3. I would do like Gorilla said... start high... if shes not streching then its good.. drop it down until you see burns...
from my understanding... Led are brighter then what they look... if this makes any sense

Im testing out a 120W Qb panel and i was expecting streching out of my seedling with the light in the ceiling of my tent.... and to my suprise there was no streching...

im still amazed for now... but only time will tell how it really works... the seedling is only a few days

  4. White. VERY bright. But not as much heat as I expected.

  5. Sounds like what I’ve seen happening. I raised my lights to the top at first trying to get these girls to stretch. White Widows. Instead they got fat. Fast. So I did a pretty severe trim today while doing the second FIM, and we’ll see what happens.
