So I usually never know what strain I'm smoking on. Most dealers around me don't even care what strain it is. I often times wish there was a way to tell what strain I had. So this is my website idea. So you go on the website and fill out a survey about your bud. Smell,Bud color,Hair color,Taste, What kind of high it gives you, Ext. Then the website will find the strain or strains along with pictures of the strains that match the info you provided. Now If you can please answer these questions 1. Do you think that this would even be possible? 2. Would you ever use it if you had a mystery strain? 3. Any improvements to the idea?
No, it's not possible. Other two questions don't even matter, because it is literally impossible
Ive met people who can tell strains by smell and taste, so I wouldnt say its impossible. Highly improbable? Sure. Impossible? No.
That's impossible. I don't know why people on here think strains have such a huge difference between each other.. Unless you know the genetics and buy from a dispensary/grower you CANNOT tell the strain from a description or picture. End of discussion
Ive met people who can tell strains by smell and taste, so I wouldnt say its impossible. Highly improbable? Sure. Impossible? No.
Those people are bullshitting you I guarantee it. It seems people always "know people" that can magically identify strains by smell or appearance and that's BULLSHIT
If you answer questions about it and people have different opinions and describe things differently and many different strains can be so similar how could they tell you what it was based on your description?
Given a small sample set of weed strains, I have no doubt that somebody could differentiate between them. But to know any given strain on sight or by smell just right off the bat? Yeah, not happening. Subtle variations in grow technique can cause profound shifts in smell, taste, and appearance or any given strain, so that you and a friend growing the exact same strain can end up with different looking buds at the end if one of you aren't as exacting as the other.
^Not really. Op it's possible sure. To wright a program that will store and filter the data. Will it be accurate? Not a chance in hell. ddoublevision answered this pretty well. Though the effects of different strains and phenos can vary widely, you can't tell this by looks, smell, taste etc. So you're left with the effects. Go head and try to accurately describe them all. Also considering they can have different effects depending on the individuals set and setting, it's not possible.
