Marijuana Sold Pounds - Why not kilos?

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by BigGreenBudz, Nov 8, 2012.

  1. Why is weed sold in pounds when all other drugs are sold in kilograms in mass quantity ?

Cause the US refuses to conform to the rest of the world and use the SI system. I was actually just talking about this with my dad earlier today. I was working out and someone was converting the weight on a medicine ball from kilos to pounds and my dad made a joke about learning that if he was going to move to Colorado. And I told him that no one weighs out in kilos, but apparently they did when he was younger and he was buying weight.

  3. kilo is also more than double the amount of a pound....

its not like you cant get it by kilo..... weed is sold in a mix of si and metric really... lbs, ounces, grams

  4. It's not so much conforming, the US finds no trouble in using pounds, it's what they're used to so it's easy for us. Eventually we'll conform, but for now we're not... for whatever reason. Anyone know if it's still pounds out of the country?

  5. In Australia it's pounds, but day to day life is strictly metric.
I think it's like Jumbo said. A kg is 2.2 pounds, which is a lot more weed than most people will ever buy in one go. Grams, ounces and pounds seem to be the easy ways to divide weed up, each category covers a handy amount of weed.

  6. Quality weed isn't compressed like other drugs. Its way more "fluffy" than coke.

Anyone selling weed by the kilo is selling bricks of crap basically.

  7. Used to be sold by the kilo back in the 60s and 70s. I paid $65 for my first couple of kilos (2.2 pounds) from a friend! (Anyone remember the Warlock Shop in San Diego?) Those kilos of pot and grams of hash (28.3 to an ounce) taught a whole bunch of kids the metric system and conversion rates to American standard system! lol
