Marijuana = sin??

  1. i was just wandering what someone's opinion on weed was when it comes to religion. i consider myself a born again Christian, as much as that embarasses me, not that im embarassed by God, but by the ignorant, judgmental, short minded people i get compared to being a Christian. ive been smoking for 2 years. i just love weed so much, but my mom having cancer and everything kind of fucks with my mind a lot.. but weed balances me out so much. i feel so positive when im high.. its just like "everything's gonna be ok" and thats it lol.. i just dont think that something that can do so much good (not even counting all the amazing things it can do mediacally) could be wrong... does anyone have any thoughts?

  2. hmm isnt there something in the bible that says man can use all of earths herbs?

  3. thats what ive always thought, just most of my family and stuff judge it, and judge people for doing it. It kind of pisses me off b/c i see nothing wrong with it, i mean i look at cigarettes and alcohol more negatively than pot(eventhough i do smoke and drink too lol). ive never had a negative thought about weed

  4. I'm not Christian, but I'm reminded of something that a friend of mine posted on another board in a recent discussion about MJ.

I don't know if that helps you or not.

  5. If you're Catholic, you're fucked. A pope back in the day (middle ages -ish, I think) declaired that marijuana was a satanic ritual, and that it was a sin to use it. And because of the whole deal where the Pope can decide what's a sin or not because he's acting on behalf of God, it is a sin and against God's wishes in the eyes of the Catholic Church.

But I don't think it's a sin (well I'm agnostic, so I don't really believe in sins but that's not the point), there are some churches based on the use of pot.

  6. Yeah, but if you believe in God, the whole thing about one's relationship with him is that he will always forgive you for what you do. So if you smoke a shit load, you can later ask for forgiveness. Only if you realize what you have done is wrong, however.

  7. im not catholic. their teachings or whatever you want to call them are proven wrong by their own religious book haha.. i dont affiliate myself with any denomination, i think that whole systemn is corrupt. that post with the other quote in it is so true man.. awsome

  8. That's one of my major problems with christian churches and especially the catholic church... if you do something wrong, know it's wrong when you do it, then later be like "Oh sorry, please forgive me" then everything's ok. But if you live a good life, don't do wrong things, but don't believe in god, you go to hell. Makes no sense to me. Any real forgiving god would, in my mind, choose the morally good person who didn't believe in god than the guy who asked forgivness. I mean, what kind of ego is that, to condemn good people just because they don't kiss your ass. But I digressed.

  9. i dont think how we act, or what we do is really whats important. its what you believe thats really important. the Bible says "man shall be saved by faith alone." if people had to depend on works, then we'd all be pretty fucked, b/c everybody messes up, everybody sins. whether you live a "good" life or not, in the long run, everybody sins. thats why we need to seek forgiveness..

(im not trying to stir up any bad vibes or an argument or anything like that. and if anyone is getting negative emotions, go smoke a bowl before you respond haha) :smoke:

  10. ^^^Kind of the lines I was getting on. People always mess up, but if you believe, then you are set. Faith is the biggest thing here...believing without seeing.

  11. Well I don't want to start a theological debate here, I mean, I think it's a matter of faith on what you believe and that there isn't a right or wrong way to interpret things; so I'm not saying your wrong or anything, but I will say this:

If there is a christian God, and I go to heaven, I sure as shit don't want to meet Hitler, the Unabomber, child molesters, rapists, murderes, or anyone else who's a "born-again" Christian. Those people don't deserve the everlasting bliss that people who lives good lives deserve. God's love may be "everlasting," but if so there would be no one in hell except people who don't believe in God. So it just backs up my point that it's a big ego trip; He doesn't give a flying fuck what you do, what kind of suffering you cause, as long as you give up your entire life to him. If good people who don't believe in God always go to hell, then hell would be a pretty nice place.

EDIT: Per my previous post, I understand that everyone makes bad choices at some point in their lives. We're human. But I don't think killing children should be in the same bracket of evil-ness as, say, cheating $50 off your taxes, using God's name in vain, or any other everyday sin that we all do because we're not perfect.

And to be honest, I have trouble believing that most christians share that always-forgiven viewpoint. I mean, maybe they do, but if so, what keeps them from doing bad things all the time and just asking forgiveness? That's a legit question, I really would like to know.

  12. OK...

The Genesis verse is talking about "for meat" or in other words, "for FOOD"...

Jesus drank "wine" this wine was NOT alcoholic, which even secular historians have confirmed.

The Bible does not condone getting wasted on anything.

I've posted stuff about this before, so I'm not gonna post any more of it in here. Run a search for similar topics, and you'll find pleanty of threads about this.

  13. no its not, god fucking made it, so i dont see why we hate it. bustarhyme foo.

  14. The Bible says, something along these lines.

It is not what a man puts into his body that defiles him, but it is the things which come from a man which defiles him.

So basically, I think that means, you can drink if you want, you can smoke if you want, but it is your own actions and words which are the sins.

  15. Hmm, what concerns god under the christian religion? I would think things that hurt others or cause any form of suffering would be considered negative. How is pot negative? If it really isn't bad for you it does nothing negative at all. Unless god isn't completely good and still thinks pot is bad, but how can something that isn't negative be bad? That would mean god is not completely good and that is untrue according to the christian religion. So either god doesn't exist the way christians see it or he doesn't give a shit about what we smoke.

    Definitely not a sin.

  16. Pot does damage to your lungs, in much the same way as tobacco does. The reason people don't die from smoking weed, is due to differences in quantity, and also THC has been shown to prevent some forms of cancer from forming.

The Bible says you body is the temple of the Holy Spirit (assuming you're saved that is) and not to defile your temple.

I believe the verse speaking of what you put into your body isn't what defiles it, but your thoughts and whatnot... I'm almost 100% that that's referring to food. Before a certain time, Jews were not allowed to eat certain foods because they would "defile" their bodies. After Christ's resurrection, this was changed though.

BTW... To whoever said that God made it so it can't be a sin... God made everything here on earth... Just because it's here, doesn't mean that we're supposed to smoke it/eat it/drink it...

  17. We have THC receptors in our brain & we're the only creature on earth that could possibly smoke weed. Well at least succesfully. Explain that one cottons:D

  18. Running habitually throughout your life causes horrible joint damage in your knees.

    Is running a sin?

  19. your all sinners!!!!!
