Marijuana Measures - 2012

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by iloveoregon, Oct 30, 2012.

  1. High there

Today I got my ballot in the mail, and opened it to check it out. After some reading and thought, I voted for who would get to occupy the white house, several other leaders, and most of the measures. There was an interesting measure in the ballot this election year, that is, a measure on whether to legalize, and control, the use of marijuana. I voted yes, not only because I enjoy the herb, but I also believe the war on drugs needs to come to an end.

Prohibition simple doesn't work, and it's gone much past it's expiration date. It's time for a change, and to enforce something that does work. The war on drugs has lasted well over 40 years, has cost the American people millions upon millions of dollars, and keeps the prisons full of non-violent marijuana users. Don't get me wrong, I don't believe all drugs should be legalized and controlled; however, keeping marijuana illegal, especially a schedule I drug, simply isn't effective (along with certain psychedelics, but that's for another time).

For those of you who don't know, this measure certainly doesn't completely legalize marijuana, it does allow it people grow & buy the drug with certain restrictions and rules. You wouldn't be allowed to smoke it in public (except designated areas), drive while under it's influence, and there would be an age limit for buying, like alcohol or tobacco (most likely 18 or 21). This measure is being voted on in Oregon, Washington & Colorado.

Anyways, my question is what do y'all think about the measures and do you think any of them will really pass?

On a side note, I'm coming off my 7 week t-break this weekend. I'm ready & excited to blaze again! :smoking:

  2. Honestly it would be easier if the federal govt just cut the bs and just legalized it

  3. I'm hoping at least one of them passes, especially the one in my state! :smoke:

  4. Wouldn't it be really hard to change your standpoint from, "This is a dangerous and addictive drug" to, "This is the safest drug you'll ever take and it can cure all of these things, even slow down cancerous cells"?

We need to put it up in the politicians faces and say "we need to take another look at the marijuana prohibition."
