Marijuana for Arthritis

Discussion in 'Medical Cannabis: Treatments & Patient Experiences' started by Tbika, Jan 1, 2007.

  1. Well, my mom came into my room tonight at about 2:30 telling me she had woken up from her arthritis pain. I said (half jokingly) have you concidered medical marijuana? She said no, it'll make me act stupid (she's smoked in the past but not in a long while, and she told me she never really liked it). I didnt have a serious conversation with her, but I feel like its somethign she should consider. I asked her what she takes for her pain, she told me advil. I asked why she didn't go talk to her doctor about taking somnething and she said that she hasnt been to the doctor in a while and she would probably go back soon.

So does anyone on this site use marijuana for authritis pain and if so how well does it work? Thanks for your help.

  2. my mom has bad pains from it to. She has never done drugs but I think it would be good for her.

  3. I have AS (spine and hip arthritis) and smoking herb dulls the pain a lot. When I move or sit, it still hurts, but its more bearable. Im not even talking about good bud, just some mid type of stuff. I imagine some good medical herbs would make it feel a LOT better. its always worth a shot, and if she doesnt like it, tell her youll take it off her hands

  4. my girlfriend got arthritis in her hand because of smoking weed. at least thats what the doctor said

  5. At 50 i should have arthritus all over my body at this point then and i have none at all.
    I have smoked since 16.

  6. Field hockey forever fucked up my knees so I actually have arthritis in them now, I have since I was a senior in HS 2 1/2 years ago, MJ helps the pain go away. Helps all my shoulder pain, as well as migraines too

  7. My dad has it bad in his hands and has had surgery on his toe. Hurts him like nothing other he has said. I gave him a 20 page document I gathered up from google about medicinal mj use. He wants to try it he said but he needs to go see the mj specialist first, thats whenever he gets spare time.

I should try to give him some of my green to try out first. :D I'm waiting for the right moment to break it out! lol

  8. Oh my God! I have AS too. I'm currently in the process of retiring from a certain military service. Cannabis DEFINITELY helps, even moreso than the Oxycontin I've got.

Are you fused at all? My left SI joint is fused, and the right SI joint is killing me.

  9. I was diagnosed about a year and a half ago, but have had pain for at least 2 years prior to that. So far, i am not fused and it looks like a lot of the basic anti-inflammatories are doing their job in terms of reducing pain. Im not even 20 yet, so I have a long ways to go. unfortunately, my parents are VERY VERY anti drugs... they dont even consider the usage of novacain at the dentist and they also beleive that caffeine is a terrible drug. finding time for me to smoke is very difficult, and its very frustrating being in so much pain at times and NOT being able to explain to them how much marijuana helps. ive been pretty depressed about the whole situation since i was diagnosed  but it really makes my day knowing someone else knows how i feel!

edit: both of my SI joints become severely painful just a few hours after missing a dose of meds. the pains in my spine are either very severe, or not there. it just varies day by day.

  10. Yeah, I'm only 27, and got diagnosed 2 years ago. They're retiring me early!!!

  11. Ive been dealing with arthritis for about 15yrs now,and ive been using medicinally for the last three yrs.I literally have degenerative arthiritis in my entire body.Ive had three surgeries, one to fuse my ankles, and two to completely fuse my spine.I expect more surgeries in the future.I wouldnt be here if it wasnt for my "medicine".It has let me live again.I dont take any narcotics any more, because I simply dont need them.I dont live in a med mmj state,so I risk prison every time I medicate myself. But Im to the point where I dont give a rats ass what any one thinks of me because of it.All I know is mmj is the one and only thing that helps me.It really does work for me.I recomend it to anyone who has any form of arthritis.I wish your mother all the best in her search for relief. She ought to seriously consider it.Its simply amazing.Good luck.

  12. I'm sorry, man. I know how that is - but I haven't even had surgery yet.

Glad to see you get some relief from the miracle plant.

  13. haha that's the dumbest thing i've ever heard

  14. Yeah, that's totally bogus. THC couldn't POSSIBLY do that.
