Marijuana for ADD and OCD.

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by tillfjalls, Dec 16, 2010.

  1. Hi,

I've been diagnosed with ADHD as a child and ADD more recently. Its gotten aggressively worse and I say aggressively because I pretty much can't watch a movie for more than 25 minutes without smoking a bowl then I'm usually fine, but trippin' a bit. I've made appointments to see the Doctor but I'm still waiting to get an appointment with some specialist. I've found though that I go from not being able to do anything, to being able to actually do things - and enjoy them, when I smoke weed.

OCD, I only mentioned that because lately I've been noticing it really bad at times to the point where it can halt my day completely for an hour or two, sometimes longer.

Does anyone else have ADD? Do you find marijuana helps? If so what strains, tell me how much you smoke to get the desired effect.

I'm just looking to create a conversation on the two because I feel like I'm living in a prison and the only thing that helps is smoking and talking to, well, people who smoke weed.

  2. Sorry to hear about that man, I myself don't have ADD but plenty of my friends do and they all say that it helps them just be able to chill out, I do however though have OCD and I know that it greatly helps me, It just eliminates any sort of OCD behavior that normally I would've had. In terms of dosage, I usually just smoke a small bowl if its day time because I can't get too baked just enough to keep me calm. I feel you on the OCD though it will definitely affect your day, and it sucks, but thats why we :smoke:

  3. It might be helpful if you were aware of the medical studies that have been done on the effect of cannabis on OCD and ADD/ADHD. Click the first link in my sig for 100s of MMJ studies. ADD /ADHD is right at the top of the list. :)

    Granny

  4. Sure he could take pharmas that will make him impotent, rot his stomach, destroy his liver, and possibly kill him, or deal with the horriffic side effects of cannabis like getting hungry and sleepy:rolleyes:
    /sarcasm

  5. I have ADD, but I never medicate for school or anything anymore. I used to smoke before class which was a stupid idea. Now I only toke at night pretty much, or when I have lots of free time. It does help when I am at home writing a paper or something similar to that, but if I have some math homework or something that takes complex and organized thinking, then I find its best not to smoke and just power through it. Caffeine helps too.

And dont allow yourself to use ADD as an excuse for not being able to concentrate, the power of human willpower is a lot greater than that of your brain, its your fault if you decide to get sidetracked, because you should know that you need a low stimuli environment for homework, studying ect.

  6. Ill agree to that to a point. Over medicating is not a good idea before class or work, but for me just a head change to get norml (pun intended) is good for me. It helps me concentrate and puts me in a better mood.

  7. Wow I am the exact same way. ADD and the only thing that lets me slow down enough to accomplish anything is mary-j

If your in High school,i don't recommend smoking because your so young and have no tolerance, also caffeine makes add worse LOL. If your in college i say go ahead and smoke a LITTLE before class. Also Math and ADD,Just don't mix,it wouldn't matter how how i was lol, Math is my weakest subject, especially when thoughs and numbers get jumbled in your head.

If you search the forum, everyone asks the same question. Yes Marijuana does help with ADD/ADHD. I have ADD,but when i first started smoking around 16ish,i smoked just too get high, now on the 13 of jan i'll be 22(where does the time go) and i have noticed my add more and actually understand it. Back when i kid i knew i had it but didn't know any better. So i'm sure most people have taken the meth they give you aka Ritalin etc. So i took that shit and at school i was fucking starving, but wasn't actually hungry,so i would be just drained. Also i could never sleep properly because of the junk the doctors give you. Thankfully in canada adhd is on the list, well pretty much anything is in Category 2. I can rather get my mmj card or just register ith the compassion club, they just need proof of diagnosis. One thing i switched to after the meth was FOCUS had a bunch of fish oils and supposed to help with memory etc. If i don't have a toke by around 9Pm then i get a bit antsy. If i don't get one let the race begin ahha if you k ow what i'm saying.
This guy has a whole seminar about add and marijuana.

  9. I've got ADD. I'm supposed to take Vyvance but I just don't. Haven't even taken one yet. But I noticed that after my high is over I'm a lot more aware of things and my mind is more directed to catch things that I wouldn't while not smoking previously.

ive got OCD and BYPOLER DISORDER, and marijuana serves me very well, with the disorders i have they trigger a very odd/moody behavior, so marijuana keeps me quite calm and collective during my day.
