Marijuana and Gun Control

I hope this isn't the wrong place to ask, but here goes.
I'm planning on buying my first gun, but I'm worried that I can't, at least for now. I was recently arrested for 12g, and since it was my first offense, got community service. When it's completed, the charge gets "erased" from my record. But since I just got arrested 2 months ago, is this enough to be denied a gun, under the justification that I'm a "drug addict?" Will my record deem me a "user of controlled substances?" I hope someone out there knows how this works better than me.
