Marijuana and Dreaming

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by CyclicDreams, Oct 12, 2011.

  1. I smoke daily and take breaks whenever. I've noticed I rarely dream when I smoke habitually. BUT when I go on a t-break, I have some very vivid and almost scary dreams...some very bizarre dreams. I love dreaming, and I need to start writing down my dreams as soon as I wake up from one. Anyone else noticed the lack of dreaming with marijuana?

  2. I never could remember dreams anyway, no noticeable difference.

  3. Then seems like you're missing out.

  4. WOW! i have the same exact experience but my dreams have stop and ive been sober for 2 weeks now i know its not a lot. Most of the dreams i had when i first started getting sober, were nightmares. Only reason im sober is cause i spend too much money on weed that's why i have two growing plants.

Smoking marijuana suppresses REM sleep so you end up dreaming less.

  6. Marijuana use decreases REM sleep, and Ive noticed it too, although sometimes I do have crazy dreams when I'm high

  7. Yeah man, that's what I was saying when I said almost scary! That first week of not smoking can have some intense nightmares and dreams.

I notice that I don't dream as much either during regular smoking periods, I believe it has something to do with our bodie's natural cannabinoid based neurotransmitter Anandamide. It's been believed that it is responsible for us forgetting unimportant memories, and I believe that when THC mimics it's effects, it can also effect us at the subconscious level. The reason I believe that THC causes a complete lack of recollection of a dream is because THC breaks down much slower than anandamide, which also explains why we aren't naturally high all the time.

EDIT: took so damn long to type didn't see the whole REM suppression thing. Time for more research on my part :D I love learning
