male flowers spread to every female strain last 6 months but minimal seeds, in dier need of exp.help

  1. Well where do I start...about 4-6 months ago we started to find male flowers/pollensacks on our feminized seeded female plants that only occurred on 1 or 2 strains and now it’s spread to everything we have now..(20-25 strains) but what’s mostly confusing is that by harvest, we will barely see any seeds at all maybe some certain strains will have some but practically everything displays male flowers during early-mid bloom. Notable facts: 1:We don’t use moms;clone from essentially everything(which has made everything worse). 2: The sickness/effects start in veg sometimes very early even before transplant into the 3 gal smartpots Also some plants display sickness symptoms that resemble broad/russet mite damage but have not yet seen any live mites but what looks like eggs on some of the more effected plants. Wide/sporadic branching, weak/pale stems, all dark small leaves;no large fan leafs, seems to be something that is capable of spreading and not bound to a certain strain anymore. 3: we have been spraying optic foliar switch pretty much from the start of issue and maybe that’s why we don’t have that many seeds by harvest. 4: coco mix-water ph seems to be within range. 5: Overcrowding of plants in both veg and bloom. 6: spread to old strains that have always been strong and male flower free that weren’t from FEMseeds, also the issue seems to be systemic but not a genetic thing since the strains were all fine before and now they are not and all clones now. Test scores and quality haven’t gone down at all- still high 20’s and some hit 29-31% thc on regular basis. OG lineage strains seem to display symptoms or whatever sickness, more so than others...been non stop stressing over this and Spend all my free time researching everything I can and considering all possibilities but I’m also not the head in charge but have noticed it get worse and worse as far as how widespread the effects are still not that many seeds but I know our yields could be at least 1/3 better...open to any input and thanks if you lasted this long through my rambeling, this is last resort aside from starting over which won’t happen

  2. Also another symptom of sickness is the serious leaf taco-ing/folding up and the leaf twist and side curl that’s consistent with broad mites...the microscope picture looks more like early trichs but frequently find really milky orbs that look way different than early trichs and just like eggs but do not have any pictures of that just just yet and we do use harsh chemical treatments which could explain why I’ve never seen any moving /live mites

  3. Just a guess, but maybe you're stressing the plants in some way that hasn't occurred to you. Heat stress? Root bound? I don't think hermie is contagious, so the fact it is spreading sounds like an environmental factor to me.

  4. Yes I believe it has to be environmental stress I feel like maybe it could have had something to do with the new lights we started using there are patches of old and new lights and there is at least a 200-300 difference in The PAR level under the ne

  5. ...under the new lights and then on the flip they get full defoliation and I’m thinking that could trigger it perhaps? We have been trying to fix anything

  6. ..we can just don’t know the best way to alleviate their stress cause In early veg they look stressed and have browned pistills..my phone keeps messing up and posting before I finish typing lol....what would you say the I deal PAR level in veg is? Thanks for the input I’m wondering if letting them breath and letting them take in more oxygen will be a significant help for them or not

  7. Will post some pics of the plants that have “sick” look to them, a little later today.

  8. Other information: Indoors, royal gold tupur mix, 3gal smart pots, haven’t been using moms(but will), Watering was a bit too much but now more focused on making sure not to water when they are still wet, fixing tables so now no plants will be sitting in pools from drainage issues, recently popped way too many FEM seeds and gotta be related to these issues since it started happening directly after and also started changing to new growers choice lights but scattered around and found that the PAR levels are a hundred or so less than with old lights which I believe is another possibility for what triggered all this. Veg PAR Under new lights-300-350 and old lights- 400-480

  9. It could be the lights, you know more about your setup then I do. From what you've described that's probably the most plausible area to start. I would consider root bound as well. Root bound is incredibly stressful on a plant.

  10. Can it cause such a widespread effect if only a handful or less plants were root bound? And can they be root bound if they don’t have any rotten smell to them? We are switching to rock wool cubes which should really help the roots breathe and get evenly fed csuse with the system it’s been forever, only the area where there drippers sit is where the moisture goes and I’m sure that gets worse over time cause the moisture will go where it always has been like the path of least resistance sort of thing I’m thinking and maybe those spots are staying wet all the time causing root rot just from small areas getting funneled the majority of the feeds. But here are some pics of our plants and some of the leafs that exhibit the most symptoms of what looks like “broad mite damage”

  11. I apologize for bombarding with This much, If there’s any other information that anyone would like to know that I’m forgetting just let me know and I’ll try to answer to the best of my knowledge

  12. Damn mate sounds like a stressful one.
I'm not quite qualified to fix your problem tbh but looking at them there's environmental stress going on. The taco effect says heat/humidity are off.
Giving them a massive defol is also pretty stressful and can hermie plants.
Never dealt with hermying but if they're clones, they'll all be the same so surely if one hermies due to a fuck up then they all would if they've been treated the same way?

  13. Agreed, but we have always done a complete defoliating on the day of the flip and has always acted as good stress but now the issue is just trying to figure out the best way to alleviate their stress enough to regain overall health, especially in veg cause that’s where it is starting but could be from being cloned anyways lol. Is it best to do any work on the plants in flower, during their day period, or during the night cycle with green lights?i would think day time would be the best so they can have totally uninterrupted dark, recovery time...I could be wrong and doing work on them during the day could Be more stressful with them dealing with the main lights...would heat/humidity stress cause the abnormal growth such as the wide sporadic branching and small uniform leafs that sometimes curl/swirl to the sides? I’ve read some OG lineage strains will dud out if dealing with broad mites, which most of our genetics are OG derivatives and our gelato has shown signs of Broad mite damage the worst, to where it has looked almost identical to the effects of TMV however unlikely...sorry to keep bringing up the mites, lol. any recommendations for the most effective products that can boost plants overall health? Been wanting to try Caps OG Biowar and staring to try some b52

  14. Or is it even possible or highly unlikely that even if the stressors are relieved, it’s too late to stop them from showing pollen sacks... it’s affected almost a dozen rooms over the past three months End it is very likely that all of our plans in veg are almost destined to herm out and if we need to just eliminate everything and start fresh after we finish adjusting everything we can we want to do that as soon as possible but we keep holding on hoping that we can alleviate the veg stress

The struggle is knowing the best way to deal with all of these pollen sacs that get thrown in early flower they will be everywhere just about every time and it’s not a matter of being pollinated it’s crazh and by harvest there are very few seeds we have been cutting out the very worst and spraying with water on a somewhat regular basis as well as using optic foliar switch I’m not sure that the switch spray has been the reason why there will be so few seeds by the end
