making BHO hash with the moldy buds?

  1. i was figuring the butane would extract only the resin and leave the mold behind?

i've searched around a bunch haven't found a clear consensus.

  2. survey says...... no.

  3. The butane kills the mold, but dead mold is still harmful and it does end up in your end product. Smoking moldy buds can cause asthma, allergies, and wine growers lung (which is a disease that can cause respiratory failure and in rare cases, death). It's not advisable to smoke, or make any type of hash from moldy buds. It's up to you, but now you have the facts.

  4. I wonder if the mold spores survive a 160F Water purge...150F Whipping on a hot griddle for 10+ Minutes. I wonder how mold survive in an environment depleted of atmosphere like a vacuum? Did I mention that the oil is dabbed to a nail well over 2000F?

Mold inhalation from cannabis is generally from drawing air over the moldy bud (You hit end of joint, mold is at beginning...thus all air drug over that contains mold)

Go for it man, but absolutely do not just smoke the buds.

  5. I say don't risk your health but hey, if your health aint that important to you....

  6. Did you read where I mentioned that DEAD MOLD SPORES ARE STILL TOXIC.

Freezing, burning, melting, and anything else you can do doesn't take the toxicity out of the mold. And it doesn't change the bodies reaction. Your body will still react to dead mold spores. Just like how they can use dead flu virus in vaccines. The body reacts to them dead or alive. In the case of the flu virus, the body becomes immune. But with mold, breathing it in, even when dead, can still cause a multitude of respiratory problems. BHO just emulsifies the mold into the hash. It doesn't purify it.

  7. Yelling isn't needed.

    Thanks.

  8. Aflatoxins are the danger.

Here is a cut and paste form wiki.
Aflatoxins are naturally occurring mycotoxins that are produced by many species of Aspergillus, a fungus, the most notable ones being Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus. Their name is derived from the early work that discovered Aspergillus Flavustoxins. Aflatoxins are toxic and among the most carcinogenic substances known.[1] After entering the body, aflatoxins may be metabolized by the liver to a reactive epoxide intermediate or hydroxylated to become the less harmful aflatoxin M1.

Now I have some doubt the butane extracts the toxins but I have not found a lab that can test for these toxins. I have checked with many.

  9. I did a little bit of research on mycotoxins like aflatoxin. Aflatoxins are polar so it shouldn't be extracted by using a method like butane extraction (non-polar). Now using a method like qwiso or anything involving alcohol (polar) with the initial extract would extract aflatoxins.
