    so i will be starting a new room and im leaning toward trying no till beds. ive been watching some of the channels on youtube to look for designs and i dont see any that i like much. i think i have a good idea for a plan to make some. they will be similar to geopots. the problems i see with geopots, is the dimensions and i wouldn't want to set it directly on my concrete floor.
    the beds i want to make will be 4'x4'.. one under each 1k hid. i would do a pvc skeleton, like the geopots, but with more pvc pipe coming up at the corners to put a scrog screen. use dewitt 12 year landscape fabric for the body... just sow it together into a 4'x4' cube.. im thinking depth should be 18" for a good sized root zone. to prevent leakage i was thinking of resting the fabric bed in a 4x4 hydro flood table... then i would set it on a platform made with 2x4 lumber and mount casters to the bottom.
    i hope that painted a reasonable picture for what im trying to do.. i am still kind of new to indoor no till. what im concerned with drainage. lots of folks seem to use blumats for watering and dont allow any excess water to drain out. should i do something for drainage or just dial in my watering so that the beds are not water logged?
    does anyone see any problems with this or have any other ideas to add?

    @xtrashmanx

    What you're considering for your beds is similar to what I'm doing.

    I started with 40" plywood disks with casters.............

    Then a kiddie pool..........

    Added 2 cu/ft of lava rock to set up a Big Bag Bed Jr for my bed ................

    Loaded it with my handmade soil.............

    I think the system you're considering should serve you well. My beds are only 12" x 36" but are serving me well. Until recently I was running dual 600's over 2 beds with what I feel were decent results. I'm currently running an LED over a bed and an LEC/CMH over the other with and am quite happy with both lights.

  4. @Chunk for some reason these photos will not show up. I wanted to get a visual on your beds because I am thinking of redesigning my space. Thank you for your time and everything you do for the organic community.

  5. Sounds very similar to what I run. On bottom are 2x4 platforms with casters and hole saw cutouts for a drain. Next layer is 2x4 hydro trays set up as a sip. Filled with 5 inches of perlite with a side drain hole at 3 inches. I also added a bottom drain plug. On top goes a geoplanter with the built in pvc trellis.

    Works pretty great. Some of my thoughts:
    1. I originally was going to do 4x4 but I decided to go smaller for ease of rolling, equipment maintenence and reaching/spraying into plants.
    2. I decided to go with geoplanters after pricing materials and realizing I also didnt have the time/equipment to do it myself. They dont make them so I offered a higher price to run me custom 2x4s with a few extra inches of height.
    3. I love the sip setup. Big beds can be hard to hydrate evenly and bottom watering really helps. Plus if I go away I can really load up the trays with water and buy myself over a week of peace of mind.
    4. If I did anything differently it might be to add soil warming cables. I may also add some kind of funnel system to the trays to make filling faster. A gravity fed self watering system could be added too.

  17. I use 35 gallon geoplanter on 10" net cups in 2'x3' mortar pans. That all sits on a dollie. If you use the geoplanter the 3/4" pvc will allow you to make whatever system you want. If you want srcog just get some 4way pvc pieces and change the corners. I use mine for a support cage.
