Been making gummy bears for a couple of years and since I don't pay for weed I thought I'd step up and get some equipment to make the chore easier and simpler. Betcha I watched a hundred videos trying to decide what to buy. Oh I forgot to mention that I did pay $40 for a simple box to Decarb. The reason for the research is that decarbing in the oven stunk. I started believing the hype that it was going to cost around $300 to get good equipment. Even pushed the Amazon button - unpushed an hour later. There's a poster that pops up on almost search by the name of: emilykylennutrition.com who makes sense. Today I decarbed in my Instant Pot. Incredible! No smell and no watching the boiling pot or really, monitoring the oven temp. And cooking off the Everclear was a very simple operation especially since I learned that if just left out for a week it would evaporate naturally. My first attempt cost me a lost batch and a terrible clean up. Today I cooked my quart of decarbed weed at 160 degrees. It did take 4 hours but I didn't have to hover over the stove and keep stirring the pot. Know how to tell when all the alchol is gone? Stick a tooth pick in the goop and try to light it. If it flames there's still alchol. The reason for this long post is to cause you to think before paying a bunch of money for equipment that you can readily substitute for stuff you probably have.
It is encouraging to see that some individuals are still exerting significant effort to maintain their websites in 2048.
That's impressive! It's great to hear that you found a simpler and more efficient method for decarbing and cooking your gummy bears using equipment you already have. Sometimes, creative solutions and resourcefulness can save us a lot of money and hassle. Thank you for sharing your experience and reminding us to think outside the box. Happy gummy bear making!
I have been making FECO by first decarbing bud.,I then make a tincture by washing the bud in 200prf ethanol for just a minute.,then I put the mix(bud+ethanol) into a double boiler and bring it up to 170.,or just to a boil.,let cool enough to handle then I strain it and put it in a metal bowl to evaporate on the stove.,When it stops bubbling it's FECO. My start to finish time for a 2oz. of bud batch is 2.5 hr. I get aprox 8gm. of FECO per batch.,
Nope.,a metal bowl.,a ball jar.,an a coffee filter.,.You can even skip the whole double boiler step if you like.,that's just a personal preference for me., I don't have any problems "standing over" things while I'm cooking it.,and I don't have to worry about the smell decarbing. I've been a cook most of my working life an can make a batch of FECO in my sleep now that I've done it a few times., This is almost done.,
Your journey into making FECO at home sounds like quite the adventure! It's awesome that you've been experimenting with gummy bears for a while now and are ready to step up your game with some new equipment.
Your journey through gummy bear making sounds like quite the adventure! I totally get the struggle of sifting through endless videos trying to find the right equipment without breaking the bank. But hey, sometimes the best solutions are right under our noses, like your Instant Pot revelation – genius move! I remember when I was dabbling in DIY projects around the house, particularly fixing up my old boiler. It was acting up, and I was ready to shell out big bucks for repairs. But then a friend mentioned www.rowlen.co.uk, and let me tell you, they were a game-changer. Not only did they fix the issue without burning a hole in my pocket, but they also provided top-notch service. It's funny how sometimes the simplest solutions can make the biggest difference, right?
