no, very little is removed . It looks that way, but small growth is removed early before plant starts to flower.
Pretty sure mainlining involves pretty heavy hacking of your plant to obtain those 8 or 12 even tops Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes you do, I'm very familiar with the technique. But with a photo period plant you induce flower when you reach your preferred flowering height. With an auto, it will go into flower in a pre determined genetic timeline.(There are other factors that could slow or inhibit it but there are other threads on that topic). It's not mangling the plant(it may look that way to the untrained eye), you are redirecting growth hormone and dominance. Essentially breaking its apical dominance. Actually, right much is removed at each topping depending on how long you let veg in between toppings. You have to let your plant grow out a good but before you attempt it to ensure you have good root formation. I have done a few of them and still cringe when cutting off what has taken what seems like forever, but that's what it takes to mainline. As long as you have healthy plants with a healthy root structure it bounces back fast. Sent from my SM-G950U using Grasscity Forum mobile app
growweedeasy best description and pictures. Described for photo, must be altered for auto speed. Above the third node for autos or get off to a late start and no time at the end for final top.
Small branches are removed early and they never grow back. I do it now with autos in a 1 gallon fabric bag. Would not recommend mainline 1 gallon auto for beginner. But a 4 top in a normal size container is a very good begginner technique for autos. Perhaps Ruderalis is hardier than cannabis because I have found all root warnings to be unfounded.

I do mine slightly different though, but all in all the same Sent from my SM-G950U using Grasscity Forum mobile app
I believe it is hardier, it's indigenous to harsher climate at higher latitudes with less light. Sent from my SM-G950U using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Progress report on the mainlined purple trainwreck. As you can see she is doing great. She really loves the dual QB 96's fixture lol The first pic looks yellow because I was had the flower room door open. I cant wait to see how this turns out Sent from my SM-G950U using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Thanks man, and I'm starting a more sativa dominant strain now. I'm thinking it would work better with the way sativa likes to grow. May even speed up veg time some, not having to wait as long between toppings with the way sativas grow. How do you train now if you dont mind me asking? It really does keep the canopy very even, I have noticed though with some strains you really need to let the mains grow out to at least the edge of the pot (or maybe a lil further) before allowing them to turn up. If not you will have some crowding and need to defoliate between your mains. Sent from my SM-G950U using Grasscity Forum mobile app
