C99s: Starting week 5, tops hitting my bleach point, cant wait to shift them into tent and make a few adjs to free ip 5” useable ht. These pistil balls about half+ diam of widows, but more and longer developing colas. Will try to do some defol but most of the light/air blockage is due to so many pistil balls.
White Widows: Starting week 9, was hoping to break out the chainsaw and hedge trimmers this weekend, but lots of clear trichs and hardly any amber, and despite no nutes they are sucking water like nothings changed. Continuing to sugar up, in regular light they glisten like early morning dew. Buds are hard on both plants, but left one is something else. Can’t wait to see what those nugs are like when dry, they are dense! For perspective, those white fittings on res lid are 1.25-1.5” od.
Yeah, you gotta wait until its 50% amber at least for optimal smoke. It gets really hard to be patient at the end, but its going to be a very bountiful harvest!
C99s: Starting week 6: tops about 1” above bleach point, can’t adjust height, so dimmed light to 80%, was hoping to move them into tent before this, oh well. Plants covered with 4-5” colas, numerous buds at lower nodes. The pistil balls on c99s are about 2/3 the diam of those on widows. Colas filling in with pistils, starting to redden. Hoping to get plants into tent for last 2 weeks of grow.
White Widows: still sucking water like sponges and flushing out nutes; but trich cloudiness is accelerating, right plant ahead of left one, probably start harvesting mid-week. Sugar leaves turning purple, hard to tell the color tint (tent too dark w/o leds on, too bright w em on), but usb microscope clearly shows a beautiful purple hue, like is visible in trich pics.
How tall is ure plant from floor to top of plant. So I can get an idea when to start to flower my plant.
Measuring from floor can be confusing, because it’s likely we have diff reservoirs w diff heights. So generally, ht measurements are made from res lid. To determine ht for going 12:12 depends on strain (how much it stretches), how much ht you have to play with, how big a plant you want, and your setup. For indoor mainlines, most people start 12:12 when plant is 10-12” above res lid. For outdoor ones, just depends on how big a tree you want; the longer you veg, the bigger the tree. Of course, you want to make sure you don’t veg too long, you may put yourself in a position where you might not finish flowering before weather conditions are unfavorable for outside plants. After a grow or two with same setup you’ll know what’s best for you.
White Widows: Starting week 10; right plant 100% cloudy, will harvest this weekend; left plant a few days behind. Lighting and camera doesn’t do them justice, some pretty purple leaves on tops.
A very happy but at the same time somewhat sad day (at least for me when I harvest a plant I put so much time & effort & dedication into), I hope the yield surpasses even our big predictions!
I’m happy, passed the finger hash test with flying colors, those are some bigass nugs, got more than enough, no pm, purple tops, another widow and two cindy’s still to come...And, ZERO larf...yep, i’m really happy... especially with my shitass blurples and my unVERBATIM technique...Lol!
Still shake my head and laugh every time I think about those ludicrous comments. Be interesting to see the final dry weight, its going to be a lot........
I am just curious, if you wanted to get 8 big long donkey dick colas (like Nugbucket holds in front of his face in the photo in his tutorial) how would one do it? I'm not saying the total yield or quality would be any better (very doubtful it actually would), but for arguments sake if someone paid you to grow your mainline that way and that way only, what could you do differently to try to achieve it?
Gotta have a strain that works with it well. I’ll try with the nyc diesel and the super silver haze that i’m training right now.
I'm very much looking forward to that, learning at the feet of the master! Beyond using the right strain do you know if there are things you need to do (particular pruning or training techniques) that influence the plant to grow buds in that rather unique fashion? I guess I am kind of fascinated because I have seen many pics of humongous buds over the years, long before I knew what mainlining or scrog or any of that was about. I have grown some nice fat buds (had one last season that was particularly large, named it Budzilla) but never something like what I have seen in pics. I mean it can't be rocket science and all of us know a pretty good amount about growing really good weed, so what is the missing ingredient or "secret sauce" for growing the really big buds?
The secret sauce is to use indica strains (i prefer sativa). That picture with nugbuckets holding a fan of donkey dicks, is a strain he used a lot in photos, Ace of Spades. Btw, I’m no master.....yet
C99s: Starting week 7; with harvest of one of the widows, finally able to move cindys into tent w/ more light (1000w -> 1200w) and a little more headroom; unfortunately most of tips bleached in cab, because of small headroom; also swapped out water due to concern about salts building up (haven’t added nutes for a couple weeks, but nute soup was rising above max), flushing now will add nutes in a few days; other than tips bleaching plants looking good, colas fattening and starting to sugar.
