i was wandering a few things about the buds on a plant (being my first grow i havent really seen a harvested plant yet). 1. can u tell roughly how much the main cola will weigh when dried by its length and/or width? I have heard people say "i had a 2 foot long main cola...blah blah". can u estimate how much a main cola will weigh dry by using its measurements? Or do most main colas on most plants weigh about the same - give or take a little. 2. if a plant isnt that bushy, will it only produce the one main cola. My plants are nice and tall but they arent that filled in and leavy. i lsted them and its working a little, but i cant see how the lil buds at the internodes will end up weighing something substantial, they look like a half gram right now lol. will those tiny side buds bulk up some? Thanks alot if u can answer any of these questions.
yea i have the same question my plant is in flowering but all i see is a few pistols coming out of the nodes and the top... i don't see how these things will gain mass?
usually people can eyeball how much it will weigh by squeezing slightly, which checks density, experienced smokers and growers can do this, yes, your buds will get bigger, how long has it been flowering for? pictures? edit: trust me, they will get bigger, they puff out more while the plant slowly grows upwards, you'll understand when you see it.
mine have been flowering since like july 20th or so, so like 3 weeks. ill get some pics tomarrow. my plants like i said are nice and tall and strong looking, but they are kind of sparse in their leave matter and nodes - they arent that filled in. i lsted them recently and now there is the main cola....which is looking good and filling in, and then there are these little tiny popcorn buds coming from the few nodes that i have. since i started lsting late, the lil popcorn buds are not fully branches like they would have been if i started lsting earl, u no what i mean. they are just tiny lil buds reaching for the sky, prolly like an inch or so long and pretty thin still. im just hoping that they will bulk up alot more - i dont want my whole harvest to be from just tops lol, but well see. how much does a main cola usually weigh (from your experience)? someone on another forum said that a 8 inch cola is about 10 dry grams, does that sound appropriate? i would think it would be a little more but hell, what do i know lol. thanks for the help.
10 grams sounds about right, more or less, but i'll get back to ya on the original question when i get them pics. but at 3 weeks it should be pretty bulked up, what lights are you growing under? and how long did you veg it for?
im growing under the sun. the plants have been vegging for 2 months, since june 12th when i planted them. i just got a feeling that my plants are up to "paR" for 2 month old plants. but i guess if i vegged them for 2 months, they should produce a good enough yield u know.
is there a certain time when the budding process really takes off? i heard that in a certain week, the budding really takes off. Mine have been flowering for like 3.5 weeks, do they still have a lot of buddage to gain with another 4-5 weeks.
no there is no way to estimate ur dry weight due to the fact, that ur plant dosnt have the buds yet, unless you have grown the plant year after year after year and its the same thing over and over, every plant is truly different, even the same strain, the pheno that pops out may change things. i have grown the same plant for 8 years now and i can never get a solid guess on the weight becuase some plants die. some plants dont do so well, and most plants just dont do the same as others. sooo theres really no way to estimate the grammage. depencds on the weather, year, ur spot, where and what hemosphere you are in.
