I need a good magnifier to watch/observe trichs. I have a 30x loupe - not bad but limited. I tried an LED otoscope with USB to computer. Light worked, directions were an attempted translation from Chinese and I could not figure it out. Tried the 420 60x-100x microscope. Just like a microscope, you need to take a sample, put it on a surface and mount the microscope over it. Even then, it was a bugger to try to get a consistently clear view. I just want a simple magnifier - like an old hand-held magnifier - with adequate power to actually see the trichs like you can see in many of the posted photos. Any suggestions? Product and vendor name would be a plus.
Thanks for your response. I've tried putting my 30x loupe against my iPhone camera lens but it's terribly blurred. I've looked at the 69x "scopes" on various websites (including Amazon) but they look like variations of the 420 scope, which does not work as a handheld device. The only way I could get a focused view was to cut a bit of leaf, put it on a tabletop and place the scope over it. Maybe I'm not managing or using it properly but I've really tried everything I can think of - and some of the reviews on Amazon seem to indicate similar experiences. My best so far is as low-to-moderately powered magnifier held over my iPhone lens, but it's not enough magnification. My next try - a conventional camera with close-up capability?
Lol I use a magnifier from the 99 cent store. It's not rocket science. If you are making quality kief for sale, then yes you will need a USB scope on your comp to detect plant material. It's really not that difficult of a conundrum. Good luck!
Got mine off Amazon for like 6 bucks. It has a 30x lens and then a small 60x lense My grow journal http://forum.grasscity.com/indoor-grow-journals/1323166-another-noob-his-first-grow.html
Thanks for the responses. Obviously this is my first grow attempt and I've not used in years so it's been great fun reading/researching this project. I'm growing for my mother's medical condition and don't want a heavy stone. From what I've read, observing the trichs is the best way to judge how "progressed" the plant is. A nice, light head-high would be okay but a couch-lock would be a negative. If only we lived in a legal MMJ state.
