Well one of my girls only in her 2nd week of flower, Is showing mag deficiency. What are some ways to correct this? I am using soil BTW.
Proper PH of water. Is this potting soil with a fertilizer content ? Do you feed nutes when you water? Is it the lower sets of leaves discoloring? Is a pic able for upload ?
Nothing to worry about. It's common for those baby leave to die off ,usually always do. Expesually in flower 12/12. The yellowing is your plant using the stored food from the leafs for the flowers. Most will be yellow when you harvest. Unless you feed them without flush period. The leaves also store waste.
I thought that might be the case. Thanks for caring Sent from my Z987 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
This can also be a sure sign of overwatering or insufficient aeration; ie: not enough oxygen getting to the plants roots. Things are not always how they appear. Don't be quick to simply add Mg to "fix" what may appear to be an issue. There are usually underlying reasons that a nutritional deficiency may show itself and its often environmental and not actual shortage of a specific nutrient. J
Yea I was thinking to flush but I don't think that would be good ifnits over watering. And it could be aeration as well because the soil cam premixed but I didn't add extra perlite. It's my first grow Sent from my Z987 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
If you don't flush it then your yield will be small, potency will be lower and it could actually die before finishing but not likely. Flushing cleans out the nutrient salt buildup. It only helps. Then let it dry out a little for about 5 or 6 days then water it w/molasses(1 Tbsp per gallon of water). This is a natural chielating agent meaning it will add some trace elements like magnesium, iron, etc Also, try adding a tsp of Epson salts per gallon of water when you water too. This will add trace elements also but the chelation will help w/nutrient uptake. If the roots aren't happy then the rest will be soon to follow. Hope that helped. I been growing for 25 yrs+ so I tell you np lies. Stay Green Sent from my HTC Desire 816 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Have a question, how do you know it's a magnesium deficiency? If you are knowledgeable enough to self-diagnose you should already know the cure. For that matter, if you know the cure chances are you were knowledgeable enough not to let it happen right? Read, research and remember just because someone posts pics of beautiful plants on a growing forum doesn't mean they grew it or that they even know how. Get in there w/your hands, heart and mind and you'll be way ahead of the curve. Stay Green Sent from my HTC Desire 816 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Right, your plants can be swimming in nutes but if they're root bound the feeding uptake slows to a crawl or stops then your plants cannibalize themselves and many problems will arise. Stay Green Sent from my HTC Desire 816 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
I flushed it earlier today hope that helps. And I did a ton of research before I started. Mag deficiency was characterized by have yellow leaves with green veins. I'm thinking it may be root bound because I was trying to keep it on the small side Sent from my Z987 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
it could just be the natural nitrogen depletion in flowering the plant does to older lower growth for bud formation.
Would it do that only 2 weeks in? Well I guess we wouldn't know because it's from bagseed. But does the average plant do so? Sent from my Z987 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
