Mag deficiency? Nut Burn

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by Boshweiser, Jul 5, 2023.

  1. This is bruce Banner auto that sprouted about 7 weeks ago. Soil is FFOF. I’ve only added nutes twice (Tiger Bloom). About a half a tspn 2 weeks ago with 32 oz of water. I also added a layer of FFOF. And I fed again a few days ago with about 3/4 of a tspn of Tiger.

Purple petioles, rusty leaves, looks like they will turn brown. Seems to be older leaves first.

    Nute burn, deficiency?

  2. with out a picture cant tell what it is ,but i reckon over feed the the plant ,,,,could be wrong with no picture/s,,mac

  3. i posted IMG_5989.jpeg a pic but got an error, let me try again

  4. The darker leaves to the right are another plant. Same strain. Pretty much the same feeding schedule but doesn't have the red/browning. Seems to be a week or two behind the problem plant in terms of growth, but no red issues

  5. The downward leaves I attribute to over watering, but could be wrong. I gave the nutes on Monday (close to a tspn of Tiger with 32oz of water). 4 hours later I was worries so added another 32 oz to flush. And again Tuesday. Soil (5 gallon) is wet

  6. does FFOF soil have nutes added to it ....if its got added nutes it could be over fed if you feed the plants ,,the leaves look really dark green ..heres a picture of plant with to much N ....mac nitrogen-toxicity-flowering-sm.jpg

  9. Yeah but the nutrients from the soil should have been used up by the 4 or 5 week mark. I planted 4 Bruce Banner plants in the same medium. The two lighter green, larger plants are showing the red/brown leaves.

The other two, smaller plants are way darker blue/green (but no red marks). One on the left especially so, and smells extremely citrusy. I think it was stunted (too much light?) as it came up after the others and I may have been favoring the other’s needs IMG_5991.jpeg

still think you over feed the nutes ...even after 4 weeks there could be still some nutes left in the grow media ,,,mac

  11. I think 95% of all auto's would finish just fine in just plain water'd FFOF.

Your overly dark leaves tell me over fed.

  12. Ok. I only fed twice.

last time was Monday (maybe 3/4 teaspoon of Tiger Bloom mixed with 32 oz water for each).

4 hours later I added 32 oz. Phd water to dilute. Another 32 oz. Of phd water the next day. Will that help? Do anything else? I typically give 32 oz. per day.

do you water your plants and let the water come out the bottom of the plant pots say about 25% if you do that when watering it will get rid of some of the nutes ok ..most people water so round 25% come from the bottomof the pot ,,so the nutes dont stay in the grow media and build up when feeding the plants ,,,mac,

  14. FFOF has zero soil in it .......................................................................................
Its all nutrients, read the bag . ZERO ACTUAL SOIL ........
Guys a general education is anything that lives is organic, organic matter once it dies.
organic matter breaks down at certain PH releasing the nutrients NPK
Why grow your plant in 100% organic matter and add bottled nutrients ?

I would add in 20% to 40% sand/pea gravel/perlite/top soil your next grow if you dont run into root issues this grow/medium

  15. I did add a decent amount of perlite. 2qts per pot (5 gallon)

  16. Tiger bloom is extremely strong. I believe you are feeding too heavily while using FF growing medium.
I'd suggest dropping the tiger bloom all together. The worst part is an auto-flower is on a set timeline so you will lose yield.
