So I had looked around to see if anyone had used a rice cooker to make Cannabutter. Found posts about people saying that they would try it or had tried it but noone posted any thing after supposedly doing it. I had tried the to make it on the stove top but I didn't have the time to watch it. I wanted to stir it for at least 4 hours. I used a Hamilton Beach rice cooker that I had bought for about $40. It has a heat/simmer mode that can run for 5 hours.

Only problem was the simmer mode still got pretty hot a few times and boiled out the steam vent. So I either stirred for a bit or added some water.

Added pictures below. Plan on making gummies so I will update, once I get people to try them.

The white on top is just the butter freezing a bit.

I used 28 grams in 1 pound of butter
Decarbed grinded weed in oven beforehand and also clarified the butter before I mixed them all together.

Put it through cheesecloth into bowl. Separated butter from water and then melted the butter with clean water again and let it settle. Then I melted it a third time with no water and put it into a lunch box through a sieve. IMG_20200105_152905.jpg IMG_20200105_152836.jpg IMG_20200105_152840.jpg

  3. I use a crock pot which is similar but runs cooler/no steam. I do not boil it a 2nd or 3rd time though, i dont see the point in doing that.

  4. Thanks man it was my first time growing and making edibles. Don't have a recipe for gummies myself but I have found a couple on YouTube that I plan to follow. Will post the results once I have them.

  5. Yeah I have read a lot about people using crock pots. I didn't want to spend money buying one and I just happened to have a rice cooker at the house. The water was really dirty the first time so I boiled it again to give it another chance for plant material or anything else that would have made its way into the butter a chance to settle into the water. Third time I boiled it because I wanted to put the butter into a smaller container. Looks a lot nicer when the butter hardens into the container vs chopping it up to fit.

Posted this here incase anyone else was thinking of using a rice cooker.

It's not the best thing to use in my opinion but if your working on a budget it's definitely worth it.

  6. Melt it, dont boil it. If you're boiling it then its getting way to hot and can degrade the final product some.

You can buy a cheap crock pot under $20 in the usa or find one even cheaper at a 2nd hand store. You could also make a double boiler with 2 stove top pots heated on very low.

  7. Yeah I meant that I melted it the second and third time, not boiled. The only time it boiled was when it was in the rice cooker a couple times. Because it was a little difficult to control the heat. Will grab my self a crock pot for the next time. Didn't realize they were so cheap. Hear so much about them I always assumed they were expensive.

    Thanks for the advice.

  8. So I made dinosaur gummies following a recipe I found online. In the first run all my gummies came out yellow but I never took a picture. The picture I attached was my second run and some are more yellow than others. Just didn't mix it properly I guess. Took one gummy and it was great. I ended up tweaking the recipe by adding 5 tablespoons of Cannabutter when she said to add 3 so it would be a bit stronger. Definitely feel like the 3 tablespoons would have been enough. But I am a super lightweight. Would need to take more than one gummy if you have a higher tolerance I guess. She also has a ton of other great recipes as well.
