Mac vs. PC?

  1. AVG is notorious for resource consumption. Get Avira Antivir. Light on the comp.

Right click on Macs sounds complicated. I'm sure clicking the right button is 100x easier.

Still, most of my points are valid. Rebuttal for price? I don't think there is one.

  2. I have to be honest. People who say these things have never owned a mac.

  3. Again, people who say these things have ever owed a mac.

You do understand that Macs can use the same mice that Windows users do? Just being sure...

  4. Yeah, and most things really work out of the box rather than Window's "nice" drivers you have to install for near everything. I wish people would just try it out, even for just five minutes. The mouse gestures alone would shut people up with about half the complaints here about the Mac.

And this is where I agree completely with you. The price of a MBP would allow you to buy a top-of-the-line Bluray/DVD/BD Writer/ Triple Core/Awesome Graphics Card etc etc computer. While Apple is greedy and close minded (no arguments there, a company is just for profits so I am not fanboy), the price may b worth it for some and for others not quite. You can consider it like that luxury car company that you're not quite sure why its expensive, but some like it and others don't and you KNOW it is very cheap to make.

But, I don't regret my purchase one bit and am in love with my MBP. Its up to the person if they see the purchase as worth it.

  5. I never needed to own a Mac. Nor will I shell out so much money for a computer. I've used Macs in the past, and asked the owners "where the fuck is right click?" "I dunno" was always the answer. Perhaps RC is new? IDK, I don't follow Apple.

Also, I don't care if they can use the same mice. I haven't need to use a mouse in 2 years.

i for one am glad the mac is out there for dummies like me:smoke:

  7. Doesn't matter.

If Mac has worked for you for years, then use it. You can throw Windows or Linux on it via partition and call it a day.

This invisible 'war' between operating systems is... pretty fucking ridiculous.

  8. Im going to have to agree with you 110%
You sound like me with a better knowledge of computers

  9. Im laughing at the ignorance in this thread. And i love GC for the fact that people feel like they need to establish themselves in every thread to sound reputable.

PCs are superior to Macs in almost every aspect.

    Cost:
PCs win this. Macs, and everything apple related have inflated absurd prices. A fucking MacBook costs $1000. That is a 13" screen, 1280x800 resolution which is far below the standard resolution these days, 2.4 dual core proc, and 2gb of ram.

You can get a better stock HP laptop for $400.

    Customization:
Theres a reason PCs are called Personalized Computers. Due to apple running a monopoly, you can not buy any parts and install them yourself (which is much cheaper than buying something prebuilt). Now for someone who doesnt deal with computers too much this might not seem like a problem, but when your proc is failing or you have a bad ram, have fun paying a ridiculous service charge and waiting 3 weeks for apple to fix your computer.

On the other hand, with PCs you are free to choose from thousands of manufactures for parts and install them yourself.

    Performance:
Due to Macs OS, they require much less on the hardware side to run efficiently. This is a plus for Macs. But modern software and games still require a certain standard of hardware to run efficiently which you don't see in MacBooks unless you go with the Pro and then you are truly an idiot for spending $2000 on an i7 laptop when you could get one for $1200. Although your Mac might browse the web and open up programs fast enough with its 2gb of ram and its 2.4 dual core proc, when it comes to Crysis and a 20gb photoshop file you're better off putting your Mac in the microwave.

The only thing Macs have going for them is the fact that you cant truly exploit their OS like you can Windows. And that isnt really that big of a deal. I own 4 PCs all together, 2 laptops and 2 desktops, and none have any protection other than a free anti-maleware software. None of them have or had any problems since i got them. Its just called not being a dumbass. Dont download random shit and take care of your computer and then really Macs have nothing to bring to the table against PCs.

My cousin saved up enough money for a MacBook until i finally chnaged his mind and got him to buy a $500 HP laptop. He saved $500 and now has a laptop with better benchmarks than the macbook. He always thanks me for changing his mind.

Oh and to jump on the bandwagon, im no IT but ive been building PCs for my family and friends for years, and my custom HAF will shit on any computer i know.

Non biased, he says everything I want to say.

  11. This.

I have only EVER purchased Macs.

I bought my first a MAC SE in 1988 and yes it was expensive ($2K IIRC, but I didn't really pay for it, I had a bond from my Great Grandmother) but it was PERFECT for college. Damn thing lasted for 10 years too before it died.

My second Mac was an iBook, and it was a piece of shit. GREAT design, bad execution. FORTUNATELY Apple agreed and replaced it with a new Macbook which I still own and still works beautifully and it's now 4 years old.

I inherited a Mac Mini which is my main machine, and after wiping it clean and installing the latest OS X (before Snow Leopard that is) it works fantastically.

Oh and I CAN run Windows if I want to. I don't really want to. I can run any Windows program in an emulated mode, I don't have a whole lot of them, but I can if I want to.

PC's are so lame. I can't do the following on a PC

#1 can't go to porn sites; risk of virus is 50% after viewing even 1 porn website.
#2 can't randomly browse the internet, windows is completely secure; YAH RIGHT!!! Asking for a virus again.
#3 can't reinstall it without calling Microsoft, even though I have a goddamn valid license?
#4 have to pay for software to do basic tasks that should be free (linux is a great example here).
#5 well, I mean I guess Win7 is stable, but for so many years Linux was just as stable, so why would you use PC?
#6 Every douchebag loser uses Windows, that doesn't have a brain or willingness to learn anything; hence using a PC with Windows on it.
#7 Using or Supporting Microsoft in any way, shape or fashion is completely immoral (Bill Gates gave away what, .000000000000000003% of his net wealth to help people). I hate rich people that only think for themselves.

I'd buy a Mac anyday over a PC just for reason #7 alone. Rich people that steal all the money from society and destroy the middle class, making everyone poor should be shot on site. Literally. They only destroy this world by corporate greed; which is already destroyed. Ain't like Steve Jobs is poor, but at least he isn't one of the richest assholes in the entire world, devaluing the global economy and raising inflation to cope with the artificial increase in Corporate Wealth; destabilizing the Global Financial System (what we are in right now).

  13. ^^^
    Butthurt mac fanboy:p

  14. I lol'ed bro, I lol'ed :p

  15. I like my MacBook Pro's trackpad. It is easily the best trackpad on the market.

  16. This thread is pointless and so is my comment.

WIth the proper knowledge you can get most OS doing anything the others can.

    Heres a tip:

    build your own machine
    put duel boot on it
    ?????
    profit

plus if you lack the skill set today to be able to build your own machine then why are you debating this. enjoy your proprietary software.

  17. fixed!

  18. Hahahahahaha:hello:
    /thread

  19. You are really stupid. Stop spreading misinformation.
You know absolutely nothing about computers from your post as everything you said was completely wrong and asinine. You do not get a virus from browsing the fucking internet wow...

Not even gunna bother pointing out what was wrong with your post, try again.
