Lying

  1. If you are a voluntarist/libertarian/anarcho-capitalist...is it an initiation of force to lie to someone?

Do you, as an individual, avoid lying in your own personal life based on the notion that it could be considered an initiation of force?

    Thoughts?

  2. Not necessarily.

  3. I dont know if its force, it would at least be fraud (in the case of a scam or something).

I read a quote somewhere and I dont have time to look it up but it goes:

"You only lie when you are afraid."

    Something to think about anyway.

  4. Depends, It could be considered an IOA if you've committed theft by deception but just lying doesn't really count.

  5. I don't think it is an IOF, but if you are a voluntarist/libertarian/anarcho-capitalist then odds are you are a person of principles and integrity, something a liar is not.

  6. Everyone lies... I think it's just a matter of what you lie about and how it affects other people.

  7. ^ Yep. If your lie causes another person damage then it's initiating force.

Remember an individual owns their body so they own the consequences of their actions.
