and as for peoples opinions on whether hes stuck up and full of himself, try actually chillin with him before you say that. I mean you dont know him personally so you have no right to judge. thats like me saying you are full of yourself when I have never even met you.

  20. Personally a fan here, so don't take this the wrong way but I want to mention Lupe Fiasco's "flaw" for lack of a better word.

The heart of the hip-hop genre is in delivering the message and/or a story; the expression of self. I think most fans would know that this is indeed what he accomplishes in his songs. However, Lupe Fiasco is different than most rappers in a sense that what he delivers the message in such an artistic way that sometimes, it's overwhelming. Therefore, his songs are unapproachable not because of his topics that he deals with but rather his lyrics. I think Lupe Fiasco is aware of this as you can distinguish his "target" with each of his songs with varying degree of difficulty in terms of lyrics (or more explicit example would be "Dumb It Down" which confronts this directly). As Lupe's fan, my opinions may be skewed in critically analyzing his style but his word play is sometimes convoluted so blatantly that some lines can only be analyzed when you actually sit down, read the lyrics and think, for a moment, what he's trying to say (for an example, listen to the song "Failure"). If you look at this in a positive light, it could be his sheer, unprecedented creativity. But if you define rap as a medium for expressing your voice, it could easily be a downfall. That's why in most cases, I refrain from comparing him to hip hop artists of any time because his intent is just too distinguishable from others. If I remember correctly, Jay-Z once referred to Lupe Fiasco as a "breath of fresh air" and this is exactly my point; he's different.

All in all what I wanted to say was since Lupe Fiasco approaches hip hop from such a different direction, it is difficult to discredit other rappers (both new and old school) because you like his style and for the same reason, you could be a fan of Lupe Fiasco and still enjoy a lot of other mainstream or old school raps without the cognitive dissonance.

    That being said...FNF UP!
