Lumens question

    So my cab is 2.5'x1.5'=3.75 square feet, I have 300 actual watts of cfl's, 20500 lumens, so about 5467 lumens per sq. foot, I have the interior lined with mylar, and the lights sit anywhere from 2-4" away from plants at any time, so Im getting about 90% of my lumens. Saying that now will my buds still not be tight and fat being that I'm still using cfl, because even though a 250 watt hps produces almost 30,000 watts the distance you would have to keep it from the plant safely, drops the lumens used to about half being less than what I have with cfl's, will this still not pack on the weight like a hps using my lights the way I am. Also I hear people preach hps over cfl, but they compare 50-100watts of cfl to 250-400watt hps of course it will be different, so in my case why would I not be able to produce (so-called) hps buds?

    Id say the hid is going to produce a bud that is much more compact and larger but i dont know about in a small space...one plant? Even if the tops are getting plenty of light i think penetration is the problem. .I know in a five by five space like mine no amount of cfls are gonna produce like the four and six hundred hps lights i have....my first grow indoors was cfls and the tops were nice but not large or compact....with 1000 hps the colas are insane...like big one liter bottles even two liters....and the entire branch up to three feet deep is sweet perfect buds

    It's the spectrum and intensity... Cfl's just won't cut it my friend. Also, be careful about adding different spectrums of light at different stages as it can stress a plant to herm. You sound like you got it set up good, and you should get nice results, but to answer your question... No. You will not get the same fat buds as hps.

    Ok once my funds start to come to me I will go ahead and take that leap. The liter size buds comment made me a little moist.
