A lucid dream is the event in which one's concious mind (the part of your mind that shuts down during sleep) comes intact with your unconcious mind (the part of your mind that stores past images and memories and is active during sleep) in the midst of a dream, leaving you capable of creating your own reality or fantasy. Basically, your the motherfucking pilot of your dream and have the power to do anything you want. I have been fascinated with lucid dreaming for a while but am just now starting to research more and practice inducing more lucid dreams in my life. So I would like to know some of your guys' stories. Most people have experienced at least one or two lucid dreams in their life. What was your experience like in your lucid dream? If you havent had a lucid dream, what would you do in yours if you did have one? Please share!
I tried and tried for 2 weeks straight on two separate occasions to achieve lucidity and i just can't do it. I did the dream journal, the messed up sleep schedules, the staring at the hands thing, doing my dream checks 15 times a day, nothing helps. Just can't do it
It takes a lot of practice to control your lucid dreams, otherwise everybody experiences lucid dream at least once in their life. False awakening is also confusing that is a part of lucid dream but we can't realizes it soon.
i lucid dream almost every night. i usually realize i have superhero-esque powers and forget about whatever was taking place in order to run and jump and fly or whatever. after i've had enough of that i just conjure up some beautiful girls in lingerie and enjoy my time until i wake up
I dream every single night. Matter fact, I wake up around 7-8 times per night because im being woken up in my dream. Its been around 3 years ive been practising to lucid dream and i achieve it around 30% of the time. The first step is realizing that you are in a dream. Once your aware you're dreaming, the hardest part is probably staying awake. I've experienced everything from jumping dozens of metres in the air, holding my breath under water and superstrength. Sometimes Ill just be walking, or on a bus, something completely normal, and itll just toggle in my head "Im dreaming right now" and from there anything is possible. It is definitely a skill, takes a lot of practice. Ive been at it for years and i'm still no where near where i wanna be.
I didn't find out until much later but when I was a little kid (maybe 6 or 7), I used to lucid dream all the time. I would lay in bed and meditate on the same thing every night-- the carpet. I would imagine the fibers in the carpet peice by peice and then imagine rising above it. I'd see myself in bed, and then my house and soon I'd get into the dream...whatever it was that I wanted to dream about at 7 years old. I had no idea there was a name for what I was doing. I kinda figured that it was just the way everyone dreamt. I actually found some of my "journals" from that time and realized that, "Holy shit, I was lucid dreaming". I've lost it since and have tried a number of times to do it again now that I'm older but I haven't been able to get to that point where I had complete control. It happens sporadically in my sleep and i'll usually wake up with that "rubber band" effect. I think that regular practice in meditation is necessary for lucid dreaming. The ability to become aware of your consciousness and your physical body as two separate entities and I just don't have the discipline right now to refine that. Sorry....that turned out a lot longer than I anticipated.
Very interesting topic indeed. I have acheived lucidity twice so far. Once a couple years ago, by sheer coincidedence and again last night. I found another technique recently, I only tried it 3 times or so and it worked for the first time last night. What you have to do: When you go to bed, lay on your back with your hands at your sides. You have to lay PERFECTLY STILL. Close your eyes and dont move even a finger, dont move your jaw or your tongue in your mouth and try your best to keep your eyeballs from moving. Your goal is to stay awake (it might help if you keep telling yourelf to stay awake, in your head of course. After 20-30 minutes of laying perfectly still with your eyes closed your brain will start sending signals to your body to see if its ready for sleep. These signs may include getting an itch or the urge to change positions... but you must IGNORE these signs and continue to lay perfectly still. After 10 minutes or so of these signals your brain will decide your body is ready for sleep and you will enter sleep paralysis. You might start hearing things and seeing patterns and such while your eyes are closed. If you open your eyes (I havent tried it yet, I dont think its worth it to potentially miss an opportunity to lucid dream) you may start halucinating (pretty much dreaming with your eyes open). Shortly after you should start dreaming and since you are awake (mentally) you should be able to control your dream. P.S. this method works better the more tired you are. And also, it seems that once you acknowledge that you are dreaming, it makes the dream come to a quick ending, for me at least. Also, Im sure continuing your dream journal/awake checks will only make this easier. Just takes practice. I hope this helps some of you, ill try to post my 2 experiences when I get home from work, this alone took an hour to to type up, too many interruptions lol.
I've had four lucid dreams, all in the span of about a month last year. I didn't do anything to induce them, they just came up randomly. Unfortunately, every time after I achieved lucidity, I woke up very quickly.
Im working on it! I remember one a while back where I was underwater just moving and breathing fine. But I woke up not realizing it was lucid.
I have not had any lucid dreams. I've had really really intense life-like dreams, but in no point do I realize I'm dreaming. I accept that I'm shooting terrorists, have the super mario hat and flying around, smoking weed in front of my mom, being able to have telekinesis, etc. For some reason it doesn't hit me "shit this can't be real."
I remember when i was about 11 i had a lucid dream where i was getting chased by some big four handed mutant thing, i realized it was a dream a powered up all the way to super saiyan 3 and blasted him away with my kamahamaha lol. I woke up instantly after that tho
i was on a kick trying to do this for a while but could never get it. i think smoking weed makes my dreams all foggy and i can barely remember any of it, if anything at all. oh well, gotta take the good with the bad
