Since I have yet to see anything about lucid dreams I said to myself "Im gonna make a thread about lucid dreams". Im not an expert on this but ive done some experimenting with my dreams and can often know when im dreaming. Anyways, I kinda hope I can recieve some info on the topic and give up some of my own as well.
Lucid dreaming is nuts... I used to lucid dream almost every night until I started smoking pot more regularly. It's weird how you are in this dream world and you can still have thoughts as if you're wide awake. Recently, it seems as though all my lucid dreams end up turning into really creepy nightmares. Smoking pot reduces the stage of sleep that dreams most often occur in and that helps me avoid this from happening. Sure, I enjoy lucid dreaming and I am fascinated by it but they always tend to turn into nightmares so I try to avoid it.
If im lucid dreaming I can do whatever I please with enough focus. because of lucid dreaming I dont have nightmares as often because I control the enviroment. http://forum.grasscity.com/index.php?/topic/1340347-Lucid-Dreaming-Thread
I don't know much about the subject, but if I had to guess, this is bad for you to do regularly. If you have control then it means you are conscious If your conscious brain is active then you probly are not getting a good quality sleep -yuri
If im sleeping. Im unconscious regardless if I know im dreaming or not. Being aware does not mean being awake. So my unconscious mind is still active considering its thinking of whatever im dreaming about. Also, a person who is asleep is still aware. Think of it like this. If you are asleep and someone comes in with an air horn and blows it, you are going to wake up because you are aware something is going on in reality. http://forum.grasscity.com/index.php?/topic/1340347-Lucid-Dreaming-Thread
The only time I dont is when my family wakes me up. If not then I can do some dreaming for another hour or so. On average usually get 8-10 hours which I can appreciate. http://forum.grasscity.com/index.php?/topic/1340347-Lucid-Dreaming-Thread
i feel like smoking before sleep would ruin any chance. although i haven't consciously attempted lucid dreaming in a long, long time. i did have brief success at some points for like 3 - 5 min "lucid episodes" in my sleep. do you find that using mj before sleep has any affect for you one way or another? good info here: http://fourhourworkweek.com/2009/09/21/how-to-lucid-dream/
I heard mj reduces your chance to dream. And considering I can only remember on part of my dream from last night id say it could be probable. http://forum.grasscity.com/index.php?/topic/1340347-Lucid-Dreaming-Thread
I've had multiple dreams in a 5 hour period and between each one I would wake up but non of them were lucid anyone know why?
Actually everyone has multiple dreams in one sleep session. I cant tell you why youre waking up and that has nothing to do with lucid dreams. What kind of dreams are you having? Are they the same? What.type of events occur? And last, do some "reality checks" here and there. Like if you have a wristband or watch that you always wear, observe it, just make sure everything looks like it should. You will start doing it without thinking about it. It takes concentration. I also used to record my dreams in a journal. This helped me notice some patterns that gave me hints that I was dreaming http://forum.grasscity.com/index.php?/topic/1340347-Lucid-Dreaming-Thread
I've had a few, a few times I woke up a few seconds after realising I was dreaming. Another time I was flying around (except I found flying quite difficult, like I really had to focus otherwise i'd just do big jumps) looking for this guy who was gonna sell me an unmentionable (not sure why i couldn't just pull it out my pocket). and another time I had sex with a pornstar. Its pretty cool how you can end up in places you've never been to before, when I was flying around I'd land in some random city in a country i didn't recognise (it looked european) I managed to do it because during the day i'll look at my wrist (as if theres a watch on it) and say in my head 'am i dreaming' then I just ended up doing it in my dream one time
My sister always tries to say this. But I have lucid dreamed a lot in my life, and I will say that I have never noticed any adverse effects on the quality of my sleep.
And I can definitely attest that weed totally messes with your dreaming. I am someone who has naturally lucid dreamed regularly throughout my whole life. I have also always remembered multiple dreams per night. Since I have started daily smoking, I hardly remember dreams, and basically never lucid dream. It sucks, I used to lucid dream on average probably a couple of times per week. And if I tried to, I could lucid dream mostly whenever I wanted. But yea, now I don't at all. And I used to consider it very important, a big part of who I was. So, for now I'm just choosing weed over dreams/lucid dreaming. I keep hoping that my brain will get used to the regular influence of the cannabis, and will adjust to allow my dreams to go back to the way they used to. It does seem that my dream recall may be slightly improving again. Still no lucid dreams. And I may have just coincidentally had a few nights where I remembered dreams a bit better recently. Still hoping. Or else I'm just gonna have to really cut back on smoking if I want to lucid dream again. Take regular breaks.
I approve of this guy's message. But really though I'm pretty sure you're the guy that told me to focus on my breathing when I realize I'm having a lucid dream and keeping it steady. It's amazing and I have probably 3 or 4 lucid dreams a week. Also quit smoking in late June for my upcoming grad school drug test. While I was smoking I had absolutely no dream recall. Maybe once every 2 months. My only complaint since quitting weed is I never have sleep paralysis anymore. Most people don't like it but I find it to be an extremely exciting and enjoyable experience. Haven't seen shadow people in months and it's kind of upsetting. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
3 weeks after I quit for the 1st time in 30 some odd years , I dreamt about my best friend Duck, who died in a snomobiling accident Jan 13, 1991. He really was like the brother I never had. I miss him tremendously, even to this day. Anyhow, I had 3 dreams, one per night for 3 nights in a row. When I awoke like at 4:00 am or so, I was in quite a "state". It was so ...real. But when it happened the second night, I remember it was related to last night's episode! Then there was the 3rd night, and I was pretty shaken up by then. I related this to my wife, like how unbelievably real it was. It started out as me wondering why I had'nd seen him in a while, so I go looking for him and and there's this whole adventure I go on. Anyway, not to gone all night, I was really wondering how the mind can conjure up these things?
Yea, I probably am the one that told you that. It's a very useful technique. Glad that it's helped! And yea, I enjoy sleep paralysis as much. Other people don't like it, and find it scary. But that's only BECAUSE they find it scary. What I mean is, when they enter into sleep paralysis, they become scared. When they become scared, their minds project scary perceptions. This re-enforces their fear, even after the experience ends. And then the next time will be scary again, and on it goes. It's never been particularly scary for me. Also though, I've never hallucinated while in sleep paralysis. Well, I have 'hallucinated' in multiple senses at once a number of times. But that was intentional. One time I was hearing things, and given the voice I was hearing it was obviously just because it was on my mind. This made me think it may be possible to control your perceptions while in sleep paralysis. So, I simply focused my mind on what I wanted to perceive. And, it was true. You can create any perception you like while in sleep paralysis, in any of the 5 senses, just by focusing your mind.
The wristband sounds like an interesting way for reality checks I'll have to try it. Also thnx for the information but I'm not really sure what the dreams were about anymore it was a while ago.
