Lucas Formula question. First grow NL, CFL.

    Hey guys. This is my first grow. After doing some research I decided to use the Lucas Formula. My plant is 10 days old and I'm going to start giving it nutes by the 4th leaf set. The formula says to use 5ml of Micro per gallon & 10ml of Bloom per gallon for vegging. My question is: Should I start the plant on a 1/4 dosage for the first feeding or should I just give it the 5ml m/10ml b per gallon dosage? Thanks in advance.

    Yes, 1/4. Watch your PH, that Micro will drop it like a bomb.

    By its 4th leaf set you should be giving it the full amount.

    Dosages I would use...

    Seedling - 3rd leafset: 1/4
    3rd - 4th leafset: 1/2
    4th+ leafset: 1

    Edit: On a side note, I noticed you're using soil. Lucas formula is meant for hydro. In soil, 5/10 amount and multiply it by 2/3rds... So your full dosage would be 3.33/6.66 instead of 5/10.

    Why are you using lucas formula for soil?

    Lucas Formula works just fine for soil, as it does for hydro.

    Edit: Another note, use soil that isn't preferted with anything if you plan on using the lucas formula as directed. Something with just Peat moss, a wetting agent, and perlite would work fine.

    I've heard otherwise along time ago, too!
    But you can definitely google up and find a lot of lucas soil grows.
    Not too mention, what I heard doesn't match what I've experienced. I've grown with the lucas formula in both hydro and soil.

    Thanks for the heads up Chasin. And yes my soil isn't pre-ferted. I'm using Fox Farms Ocean Forrest with perlite.

    I believe that with FOAF you don't need to fert till you flower or 4 - 6 weeks into the grow... not 100% on this.

    Yeah. I did a bit of reading and found posts that said Ocean Forrest has everything the plant needs for the first 2-4 weeks. Now, do you think that I can add molasses to the water or should i leave it alone? Thanks
