LST? Top? Fim? Mainline? Scrog?

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by KGB Kermit, Jun 5, 2018.

  1. Hi ya,

Firstly apologies if I posted in the wrong section, my question is regarding more "advanced techniques" but I'm a total newb. so "absolute beginners" is way more accurate lol

My 1st grow (coco) will start in the next 2 wks.

Having been raised to research and prepare for everything, I frequently overcompllicate matters lol. That said during all this research and preperation. I have actually grown more & more excited for the grow and training the girls!

    My dilemma is this...

Initially I was planning to apply LST training by tieing down the plants and too Top throughout Veg before dropping the SCROG.

    Sounds easy enough!
    Then I found GrassCity!

Now...I'm unsure if i should Mainline my girls or apply a combination of Topping & Fimming before the SCROG.

    My question is this,

Is it worth trying all methods for sh!ts n giggles?
    I could Scrog 2 and Mainline 2?
I am concerned about room space and no previous hands on experience lol

    What do you guys Think?

    Setup looks like this:
    4x4 room,
    Coco Grow
    4 plants -
    Super CBD White Widow,
    Super CBD OG Kush,
    Girl Scout Cookies,
Lemon Pie (or Super Lemon Haze, I'm undecided on which yet)

    Using GH 3 part,
    Cal Mag (plant magic)
    silica,
    big bud
    Bud candy.

Once started I hope to upload a journal about my experience throughout. I'm sure I'll have plenty more questions along the way.

    Thanks all!

  2. Follow a couple of different grows all kinda matching what technique you want to try. Use their grow to get an idea of weight and see if it matches your style or idea of where you want to be.

  3. Start off with LST. It's the easiest and most effective way to increase yields. LST doesn't just include tieing down but also bending pretty severe. My plants get tied to the ground for the first bit of life to create an even canopy. I down right break my branches during veg and they give me insane yields.

Learn one method at a time before you start combining them all.

  6. Thanks for the advice, I'm going to stick to LST and Top for this grow :) not going to lie I'm nervous about the bending but I'm sure if it goes wrong. I can find a solution somewhere on the forum :)

  7. Coco has a learning curve so I would recommend to keep it simple for your first grow. I have a journal up with my current coco multi strain perpetual. Lots of LST in my grows. Check it out and feel free to ask questions

I’d start with LST as well top it before ya flip to 12/12. Thought it was funny that no one asked what light your running that will play a role in what kinda training your able to do as well.
I imagine your running at least 400w in a 4x4?

  11. Hi ya,

The strains are very much for pain. I tried to find a balance between CBD & THC and the ability to still function :). I am hoping at least one Strain has less of a head high more body.

I will be running the one vivaspectre par600 LED in a 4x4. I'm excited to see how it works, heard nothing but good things :) I got it imported from the states lol

I'll be sure to add a Journal, everyone is so helpful. It's the least I can do..pay it forward and all that ;) I'm sure there will be loads of hiccups to resolve :)

  12. Vivaspectre Par600 LED. I'm hoping that'll be enough for a little LST :)

  13. You’re a little light with the lighting. It only pulls 285 true watts and rated for a 3x3 tops. If you only keep a few plants in there, it should work but you won’t be able to fill the area unless you have at least a 600 watt HPS or two of the lights you have. Everybody starts somewhere though, so start with what you have and add on as you go. I’m interested to see what kind of bud you get with that light. I still have a 1500 watt blurple LED in my room until I save enough to make my DIY cob/ qb setup

  14. I did think that would be the case, sadly on a budget. As you say for now I'm gonna crack on and I can add to it on the next grow :) cheers

  15. The easiest way to use nutrients is a no till. This preparws your dirt or medium so you only ever have to use water. There is a recipe on my journal if you need. Its also a bit cheaper than bottled nutes. I would suggest not topping if youre going to lst as this may make the plant be extremely bushey and block light. Lst creates extra tops by itself. Ever branch on it should become its own top if done right.

  16. Kermit is right, that dude knows his shit. And He really gets into the science of it all in a non-confusing way. I learned a lot from these videos when I was just starting to grow.
