Lower Wattage Bulb On A Higher Wattage Ballast

  1. Hey, i have a 1000W digital nextgen hps/mh ballast and a hood reflector. I recently had to change grow rooms and cant be using a 1000w due to space/heat/ventilation. Is it possible to use a 400w or 600w in the digital ballast? Without complications that could lead to a fire....preferably id rather not buy a new ballast either since these were pretty expensive. If the only downfall is a shorter bulb life so be it. Any info appreciated.

  2. Short answer. Yes it's safe..
Will only output what the globe has to offer.

  3. really? is there a more complex answer? if this is the case why does anyone buy 250w ballast? its like 20$ more each jump up.... should i just buy a 600w ballast and put whenever the fuck i like in it?
