I have no real problem with the size of my grow room and I am growing White Widow. I intend on vegging for 6 weeks and then going to 12/12. My question is.... Does Low Stress Training increase yields and if so by how much?? Im just trying to figure out if I should go that route or just let them grow like normal. Please help me out guys cause i can't make up my mind. It seems like its a bit of a hassle and I am an inexperienced grower and I don't want to ruin my plants. If it is worth the hassle though, that is different. Thanks.
It does increase your yield, but I am not sure by how much because I am inexperienced as well. What I can tell you for a fact is that it DOES increase your budsites exponentially. My largest plant is only in a 6" pot and it has about 12 budsites (colas), as opposed to one large budsite. My smaller plant is also in a 6" pot and it has about 6-8 buds forming right now. LST does not ruin your plants, but be careful when handling your plant, I accidentally snapped off a small stem this morning, but luckily it didn't have a flower attached, so no biggy. I would encourage you to experiment and try LST on at least one of your plants, to see the difference in the yield at harvest time.
I have a plant that is being LSTed. Well looks like it well make an increase in yield since the plant is growing horizontally thus using more of the light
It definitely increases your yield when done right. How much is impossible to say, too many variables. LST does a few things for you: 1) develop more budsites 2) get stronger lighting to more of the plant (for an indoor grow) A plant left to grow on its own can get to be quite tall. So the light penetration to the lower branches will fall off because of shading from the upper branches but also, for indoor lighting, the intensity of the light itself falls off greatly with distance (it falls off for sunlight too, but after having traveled 93 million miles the sunlight really isn't less intense over a few feet). By using LST to create a flatter and denser grow you can congregate a lot of budsites in a small space and deliver even, intense light all the way across.
