Hey there folks, first post on here. Been doing a lot of reading but I still have questions I need answered. Me and a bud are going to do a grow box with 4-5 plants but as you college kids know, there's a 25 day break for Xmas coming up in a little over a month. My question pertains to whether or not its possible to do a hydro/soil setup with an automatic light timer and leave the op alone by itself for a week or 2 at a time. Another option is hiring somebody to attend to it once a day but that would be my last option. Thanks for the response ahead of time. edit: I have a decent computer sitting around that I could hook up if there are programs out there to control external things like lights.
What you need is some timers for the lights and some irrigation system that can run on a timer then you should be fine as long as you have a good grow box set up but then again a lot of things can still go wrong I think your on to something by getting someone to check up on it just offer a toking session as payment. The last thing you want is to get back to unhealthy plants that are unsmokeworthy.
HAH i am in the exact same situation .. ill be leaving for 2 weeks and i have a hydro ebb & flo (flood & drain) system. you can set up timers to turn on your pump in the reservoir for example: 15 mins on 3 times a day. and of course, you can also set up timers for the lights. you also have to take into account whether you will be in the veg stage (probably) or flowering stage. you might just want to veg a little longer to make it past the Xmas break. for 2 whole weeks the timers and pumps and lights SHOULD work as designed ... hopefully you have a setup that takes precautions for flooding (in case the pump were to fail). thats pretty much all you need to keep going ... and it will be automatic so you could be anywhere but there for 2 weeks. i guess u should also load up the reservoir with a nute mix that will last for 2 weeks.
hi if i was you m8 id wait till after xmas to start your grow ,just my opinion but water electric are a dangerous combo ,and i wouldnt feel safe leaving that stuff unatended for so long ,timers can fuck up and pumps allso so i wouldnt be able to relax not knowing whats going on .just my opinion but id seriousley consider waiting .
