I'm just gonna come right out and say it. I LOVE The Doors. I think they are transcendent, just broke the boundaries of what music was back then. Yes, Morrison was amazing, but his bandmates were just as awesome. Morrison was a poet, and Manzarek, Kreiger, and Densmore made his lyrics truly incredible. So, what is your favorite DOORS song? I think mine is Changeling, but there are so many that I love, I truly can't pick one with any true conviction. Let me know what you think about The Doors!

Just because you don't dig it doesn't mean he's not a poet. I don't like a lot of walt witman stuff but that doesn't take away his legacy. Doors are definitely an all time favorite band of mine. Great jam music. Favorite song is probably Texas radio or crystal ship. So hard to pick one though. So many good ones.
The doors are absolutely amazing, especially to burn to. As you can see in my signature, I am a huge fan of the doors.
I'm not too into Morrison but I really like Ray Manzareks psychedelic keyboard/organ plus its impressive as hell that he played the keyboard parts and the bass parts at the same time on a keyboard while singing. Honestly its kinda sad Morrison got all the attention when Manzarek was the real talent IMO.
That's well said man. There are many famous and highly regarded poets I've read and had to study through school who I will never 'get', but that doesn't disqualify them from being called poets. If ya dig the Lizard King, ya dig. If not, I guess I can kinda see why, but I don't share that opinion. The dude wove words though, no doubt about it.
