Los Angeles/San Fernando V. tokers Question

  1. So did anyone else notice the strange strobe-light type flashing that happened near the san fernando valley/holylwood hills area starting about 11pm last night (14th)? It was not flashing constantly but in different durations. there also was some cloud cover in the sky over the hollywood hills and the strobe (or whatever it was) was so bright that it lit up practically the entire sky and ground. The # of times varied each time and often came in short bursts. If it was lightning, howcome there was no thunder? It lasted until I went to bed, which means it probably went longer

Did anyone else see this? My girlfriend and I had NO idea what it could be.

  2. I actually did see something that appeared like lightning off towards downtown?

I was watching X-Files. Toking on some Hashish on my steps and I saw something flash real quick. I only saw it once though and thought it might have been lightning.

That's weird though since it was hot ass fuck and no signs of rain were clearly visible.

  3. heat lightning? here in michigan sometimes at night lightning flashes and there is no rain.. idk though

Yeah man, it looked like it was over the downtown area and it happened at random times. I guess it may have been heat lightning? It was pretty warm last night and it was humid earlier in the day. I want to see if it happens again, I thought a movie w/ bright lights was being filmed in the hills or something.

  6. Yes, those were lightning strikes. No, it wasn't a dream

\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t \t\t \t\t \t\t \t\t \t\t\t \t\tMore than 500 lightning strikes were recorded overnight in Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, according to the National Weather Service.

"That's pretty impressive for this part of the country," said Ryan Kittell, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Oxnard.

The lightning strikes were recorded by a private detection network that tracks strikes that reach the ground, Kittell said. The highest volume of lightning usually occurs between clouds, he said, so the overnight storm likely produced far more lightning than was tracked.

Tucson-based Lightning Location and Protection Inc., reported that the lightning strikes ended in Los Angeles County at about 12:30 a.m. as the storm moved northwest.

The lightning was sparked by a cluster of thunderstorms that formed between Catalina Island and the mainland at about 11 p.m. Thursday, Kittell said. The storms also brought a scattering of rain, from trace amounts to about two-tenths of an inch in Ventura County valleys, he said. The rain was enough to prevent wildfires from erupting.

"It was quite a show. It went right over our office. We had the lights flicker a couple times," Kittell said. "Fortunately, there was rain so it wasn't a fire-starting concern. There was enough rain to quench those concerns."

Orange County and the Inland Empire did not see any lightning activity overnight, said James Oh, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in San Diego.

This morning, the storm system was headed northwest and out of the Los Angeles area and was already near San Luis Obispo as of 7 a.m., Kittell said. No rain is expected tonight, he said.

  8. wow thats shits weird. I was smoking a joint in the back around 11 too. I thought like something new opened cause there were all they strobe lights. Later that night when I was taking a shit I kept seeing these flashes at the corner of my eye out of the bathroom window. I was pretty faded so I thought I was just seeing shit.
