Looking Into Dispensary

Discussion in 'Cannabis Industry & Business Insights' started by rototito, Mar 27, 2023.

  1. So my state of Kentucky MIGHT medicalize, and im wondering if you guys have thoughts or advice for getting a foot in the door.

I don't really have any experience in the cannabis industry, it just seemed like the best part of the business to not get immediately overwhelmed by established cannabis business companies coming into the state.

I'd prefer to grow, but it's a great state to grow cannabis, and I think id be killed fast.

Don't have much money to invest, but I have family and friends who might be interested, and the know im reliable and won't promise without evidence, if that makes sense

Im not sure how one would find a distributor of goods, that throws me off a bit.

Any advice ir thoughts are welcome.

  3. Guarantee that just because there's not any dispensaries yet, most are eyeing the next possible legal state to set up shop in. Most grow their own cannabis. Taxes are so outrageous hard to make a cent buying weed for resale. Not that it'll be impossible just be prepared for a very large hill to climb. Mentally, financially, and physically.

  4. Most Saturdays, I volunteer at a dispensary, the Green Heart. Cannabis is not an easy business to break into! These articles may give you an idea of what you are facing! Prices are dropping, budtenders and suppliers can be unreliable, and you can't use the banks or credit card services. Black market dealers will be able to price their product lower than a legal dispensary. City Fathers will try to block you with zoning laws and impose high local "sin taxes". Vandalism of shop property by "good citizens" can occur. Cannabis is not a business for the faint of heart!

  5. I did do a quick question onto the appropriate subreddit, and it was pointed out to me that if the bill even passes, it will take effect 01/2025, for framework and other administrative things to be worked out. So that does give me time to look at how things will be taxed, look at if this is even something I want to consider doing.

I know it wouldn't be a get rich quick scheme, nor would it be easy. I just think the opportunity will be there, and at least considering it would be a service to future me, possibly.

Looking into some of those links Storm Crow, thank you for them!

I value my freedom way too much to grow illegally for profit. If it was just for me, I would, but currently don't really have the set up to do so. If I had land out in the sticks sure, as I wouldn't be hurting anyone.

If I wanted to go black market, with all of its problems, I'd just be a immoral type of drug dealer and buy bulk amounts of delta 8 concentrate, slap it into cartridges, then sell as delta 9. That would be quick, easy money.

But again, I value my freedom, and am a very mild passive person. I absolute do not have what it takes to be a criminal

Actually, hon, that is a good start, right there! It's the guys who cut corners and bend the rules that fail!

  9. The united states makes 2 million new laws every two years.
We in prison more people then any other country in the world .
The country with the most laws is the most corrupt country.
When I started smoking weed in 1972 it made me criminal...

400.00 a ounce in dispensary is legal and also robbery.
In my state its illegal to grow within 25 miles from a dispensary. STATE WIDE LAW. there are loop holes.
Like if they dont carry your favorite strain and/or you have MMC at 100 $ per year.
