looking for some advice

  1. I used to work as union employee for a decently size company. One of the first things i noticed as i started working more in the field, was that everyone who had been there, were there for 5-7 years before they were able to transfer out. Now sure if i was wanting to retire as a non manager, i could have kept going as the telephone man. However I found a better way to get into management, this would allow me to gain experience needed to become more effective as a manager. My 6 months of being ineligible for rehire are up in 2 months.

Now then i could choose to go this path solo, and there is a very slim chance i would get it. Or i could try to call in a favor. One of my managers actually trained me as a technician, shortly after training me he gets promoted. Then he eventually becomes my manager. I have a bad habit of showing up late, so i owe him alot of favors...Do you think either plan would work.
