I've decided to get another grow on. I successfully did one last year, but had to stop due to the ill health of a family member who we recently lost. Anyway, I'm going with Barney's Farm Lemon Amnesia this time around. I got to taste some last week and it blew my mind. The taste was great too! I'm currently buying/replacing some gear and I'm looking for some advice. I'd really appreciate any help you guys have to offer. These are the items I currently have: 4ft x 4ft x 7ft tent 600 Watt HPS 6" Fantronics VK inline fan Plant Magic Old Timer Grow, and Bloom Organic soil Here's what I'm getting: 1000 Watt HPS (will discuss this further down the post) 6" Rhino Carbon Filter Acoustic Ducting Custom made box for the fan to reduce noise (expanding foam method) MH bulb (veg) HPS bulb (flowering) I've probably missed a few bits off there from my list. I already have temp. and humidity monitors. I've got various fans already that worked in my last grow. Regarding the lights. I'm stuck on whether I should go with 1x1000watt or 2x600watt. I'm not even sure if my tent size is pushing limits. But, I'd like to get 2lb, or close to, if possible with my size. I'm planning to go with a SCROG. I don't feel confident to attempt a vertical grow just yet. I use a cool tube, with a reflector. Again, I'm not completely sure whether the 6" fan would be ideal for 2 lights. My last grow struggled with temps. They was never max, but got close to it. Previously I had the outlet ducting going straight into the attic. There was no place for me to pull fresh air from aside from opening windows ... silly idea. This time the out pipe will go straight into the chimney breast via the attic. Then, I'll have the inlet ducting sucking air from outside. I'll also have this going into the attic. I have a vent up there. Hopefully this is better idea and better way to regulate temps and will allow for the increase in light. I decided not to grow in the summer too. I'm going to wait for winter to start. The air is cooler. Feel free to pick apart my setup and point out any faults or problems. I'm still learning the ropes as I go along so any help at all would be much appreciated. I've probably left some things out, so feel free to ask questions. Appreciate it guys. I've been following some of the grows on here. Only just decided to register.

This will be my 5th grow. The last one ended as I needed to room the look after my sick family member so I had to sadly chop them down
2 600w would definitely provide better results than one 1000w. As for everything else it looks and sounds like you know what you're doing. Just make sure that you get /have a really good fan to cool those lights and to exchange the air in that tent. It will get warm in there. First grow using cfls.
It can be done, but I agree, if he's setting his goal for 2 lb he should be growing in a larger tent IMO.
You're going to need more flower lighting to get that at harvest. Growth and production are both determined by lighting. Need to evenly cover all areas of scrog with as much wattage as possible to up yield. With wattage comes heat and if you had problems with last setup, you can count on it being worse with a larger one. It can be done, but you need to get all your ducks on a row. Temperature has an enormous affect on the growth of the plant, so to get that much weight you'll have to put a portable air conditioner in most likely. We run 4 1000 watt lamps per room, approx 10 x 8 or so, and run a 10,000 btu window unit to keep temps low enough to keep them cool enough. We tried it with a 5000 btu but wasn't enough. One fan will easily handle 2 lights though. You might want to look into the new CMh lighting they have out now. You are supposed to be able to run less wattage and get the same or better yield because you get all the colors of the spectrum that the HPS lacks. They're much much cheaper than LED's and are supposed to run at cooler temps. I'm gonna buy a couple and try them myself. I hope they are what I've been told. I'll switch over all mine. If it's possible I'm confident I can do it, or at least give it my best shot. I have to work with the restrictions I have (mostly space). If I fail, it's a learning experience and I'll just improve the next time around. I'll run a journal when I'm set up and ready to go. Hopefully by the end of next week.
You can get a pound with a 600W... so you can easily get two pounds with two... I mean two pounds with 1200W isn't anything special... that's under 1GPW... I mean TWW isn't an example you want to go by in my opinion... plenty on the forum ridicule her gpw harvest and that's why she rarely posts how much she gets off of each plant anymore... imo atleast either way it's definitely possible.... That being said I'm nobody special either... I just grow in a 4x2 with a couple LED... hoping to upgrade soon though Grow journal
If u exhaust into the celing up to the attic try use another 6 inch fan and ducting and draw cold air in from the atttic......just reverse the fan Sent from my SM-T550 using Tapatalk
2-600w would obviously be more light, but for a 4x4 tent I would just use a 1000w HPS. You should be able to get at least 1-1/2 lbs and possibly 2 with a scrog. I only grow 2 plants at a time in a 4x4 tent with a scrog and easily yield a pound without even filling out the net - I could easily add one more plant and possibly 2 for increased yield.
