    So I was going through my netflix Q and since I've had it I've gotten most of the comedies I really like so far and now I have like 200+ drama/horror/action with like 10 comedies that honestly don't look that great to me.

    Can recommend any type of movie but I'm looking mostly for comedies.

    I'm just looking for some good recommendations but if you post a recommendation PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give a short synopsis of the movie(just a sentence or two) if its a lesser known movie. Saying 'Airplane' does not do anything for me because if I haven't seen the film I don't want to have to look up every listed movie to see what its about. I want you to sell me the movie if its a more lesser known. Just a couple sentences.

    I'm just looking for good comedies or people who are known for comedies, like directors and actors.

    I know about the majors more or less like Mel Brooks, the Zucker guys are good are silly Airplane styles I think and Steve Martin wrote a lot of good comedies and starred in them too.

    I know of the more major ones put out in the last few years and I'm honestly looking for ones like pre 2005 and most before 1995 that I've forgotten about. Any decade is open game. I'm looking for comedies mostly but any genre also open game.

    Actors styles I like, Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler, Owen Wilson, Steve Martin, Richard Pryor had good ones, I'm about 50/50 with Will Ferrel because some of his stuff is junk IMO. I like most of Mel Brooks, not a fan of the guy that did Tenebaums(Anderson is his name??). I like Guy Pearce and probably the "B-Listers" more then the A-Listers as the B-Listers do more original things I think. I love South Park and dislike family Guy now days because they lack originality, so its a given I like Trey parker/matt Stone stuff. I really dislike stuff like Eraserhead but didn't mind stuff like Clockwork Orange.

    List of some off the top of my head and why I like them.

    Comedies;

    KungFu: Enter the Fist - Silly kungfu from the guy that made ThumbWars i think.

    The Jerk - I like MOST of Steve martins stuff but I think I like this one the best as its just goofy and well written 'idiot' script.

    The Pink Panther Returns - The antics of the detective and the pain he causes for others is classic. About a detective that trouble follows.

    The Brady bunch Movie - Think I recall this being funny as it pokes fun of the show.

    A Knight's Tale - Serious script yet funny and just a well done story about a knight that starts to become famous for jousting and comes to duel a prince or something.

    Addam's Family - I like the 'dark' about this and the comedy style of its writing and how everything seems to have a morbid-ish twist. About an rich odd family that is extremely out of the norm of the towns people.

    Topper - The movie from like the 30's about a free wheeling couple who die and they are sent back or something to help an uptight banker find love or something.

    Adventure's In babysitting - Not sure its comedy but it has funny parts and is about a babysitter watching some kids and all hell breaks lose and they end up running around new york with some guys chasing them and getting into antics.

    Others;

    The Count of Monte Cristo - I love the revenge story line and I think none other does it better that I've seen then this movie, the one with Guy Pearce in it. Plus I love renaissance clothes.

    The Time Traveler - Another one with Guy Pearce. Doesn't follow the book but they did a good job with the movie and how he went into the future but couldn't change it what has happened then goes into the way future to battle some race of evil things killing innocent things.

    Hitch - A pretty good relationship movie. I liked this because I saw myself in Will Smith like explaining how relationships work and the mechanics of it but he still gets involved with the girl or something. Not a huge fan of Smith but hes got some good stuff.

    Boogie nights - Its erotic if you want to look at it that way an I think the scenes where it implies are sexier then actually watching anything going on and its written to life and a good character piece on what the porn industry was like probably at the end of the 70's or 60's.

    Bill & Ted's Bogus journey - Better then the first I think because it goes different places and has a good style about it.

    Amelia - A French movie about an interesting girl and the people in her life and how she changes their lives for the better. Some pretty funny parts like when shes plotting revenege on a shop owner.

    Stranger then Fiction - I loved this movie because its interesting take on free will or fate and its low key humor just adds to it. About a guy whoes a character in a ladies book and he acts out what she writes and she kills the main guy in her books but she finds out about this guy this time...

    Kng Fu Hustle - Awesome sfx, chinese film by the guy who did Shoalin Soccer. Its like live anime, certain people have 'super powers' and they only just discover the other people and they duel in this movie. The music makers in this movie was a pretty awesome and original part.

    Who Framed Roger Rabbit - I think this is a "noir" movie but I love movies where the detective is hard boiled and they bring it across like that. Like the guy calls the girl a dame and its a hard luck kind of feel.

    The 'burbs - Tom hanks thinks his neighbors are killing people in their basement and his friends think he's going a bit crazy on being obsessive.

    Unforgiven - One of the best Clint Eastwood movies around and more true to life written then his spaghetti westerns. Just a couple of guys going out for one last bounty or some such and the law gets involved, but whoes side is the law on?

    Beverly Hills Cop/Lethal Weapon/Etc - These movies are just all around good for their action. I prefer BC over LW1-2 but Leathal Weapon 3-4 are well written and just good action flicks.

    The first Saw(but not the rest) - Was fairly original at the time and I loved the setup's that jigsaw made and I loved the 'twist' ending.

    Dark City - I liked this because it messed with your head and Jennifier Conelly is fucking smoking hot.

    Documentaries;

    The Corporation - Movie about the history of and what the corporations are doing to this world. Pretty eye opening. They compare corp's to psychopaths on a psych test.

    I disliked What the Bleep because it wasn't a factual docu and if you dug around it was the one lady trying to sell her line of crap to the audience.

    I like Planet Earth, Living Planet, stuff about math and just about anything about history. Not a huge docu nut but I do like watching good ones. I mean good factual ones, not propaganda like Mike moore junk.

    So if you have some good movies you think I might like throw me a line, I'm open to an decade, black/white, foreign, subtitled, documentaries, almost any genre but like'em sci-fi if possible.

    The kind of stuff I'm looking for that I've already seen... Stuff like; What About Bob, Spies like Us, Indiana Jones, 2001: Space Odessey, The Black Hole, Funny Farm, The Money Pit, Conan The Barbarian, Space Pirates, Mr. Bean, Addam's Family movies, Superman(the Reeve ones) ..... Stuff along those kinds of lines I'm looking for, the older stuff that I've forgotten about and I'd watch and say "OH YEAH, I remember that" kind of deal.

    I'm all eyes and ears.

  2. Not sure if you are looking for just movies on Netflix or other ones as well. So I'll give you a mix. I've been on break watching a few movies and feel just like you looking for some more, so I might as well help you out. I apologize if my summaries aren't the best. I was too lazy to copy and paste ones so I wrote what I remember.

    Here are some watch instantly ones:

    - Bickford Schmeckler's Cool Ideas (Some dorky kid writes a giant book with his idea's that a girl steals)
    - Jeff Dunham: Spark of Instanity (great stand up with puppets!)
    - Pineapple Express (I would hope you've seen it)
    - Fired Up (gave me a few laughs; it's about 2 guys who go to cheerleading camp)
    - Kevin Nealon: Now Hear Me Out (Kevin Nealon's stand up; he's from Weeds)
    - Step Brothers (hope you've seen it; if not great comedy about… 2 step brothers)
    - Mad Money (Diane Keaton and Queen Latifah steal money from the federal reserve)
    - Sex Drive (stupid teen comedy; guy pretends to be someone else online then goes to meet said girl)
    - Sunshine Cleaning (2 out of work women get into the business of cleaning homes after the person has passed away)
    - Smother (Diane Keaton moves into her sons home)
    - Smiley Face (the story of a girl and her day after eating a special brownie)
    - Super High Me (joke on Super Size Me with Doug Benson)
    - Monster's Inc (nothing like a classic kids film)
    - Space Jam (same as above)
    - Remember The Daze (kinda a 21st century Dazed and Confused)
    - 30 Rock (funny TV show and they have many of the seasons instantly)

    There's just a couple ones on watch instantly that you should check out. If you are looking for others as well and not just instant ones let me know I may have a few more, enjoy!
