Looking for an Advice on Growing Indoor Plants?

  1. Hello there,

I am new to indoor gardening and would appreciate some advice from experienced growers. I recently set up a small indoor garden with a variety of plants, including herbs and succulents. However; I am facing some challenges and would love to hear your thoughts on how to improve my setup.

Firstly; I am struggling with maintaining the right humidity levels. Some of my plants require higher humidity, but I'm finding it difficult to achieve consistently. Do you have any tips on how to increase humidity without causing mold or mildew issues?

Secondly; I am unsure about the best watering practices. I've read conflicting information online, with some sources suggesting watering every day and others recommending a more infrequent schedule. How often should I be watering my plants, and is there a way to tell if they're getting too much or too little water?

Also, I have gone through this; https://forum.grasscity.com/threads/single-plant-grow-devops-tent-or-not.1513415/ which definitely helped me out a lot

Lastly; I am interested in learning more about fertilizing indoor plants. Should I be using a specific type of fertilizer for different types of plants? How often should I fertilize, and are there any signs I should look out for that indicate my plants need more nutrients?

Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your help and assistance.

  4. Your on the right track. Your reading information and that's more than most do when they venture into growing weed.
Get a grip on basics and stay away from advanced growing until you understand basic needs of cannabis. Tons of info here that can answer your questions.
Environment, light, and nutrients. All in that order. Get those right and your growing.

  5. To increase humidity in a micro climate around some of my indoor plants that require it. I place a saucer under the plant and fill it with small pebbles. I then keep that saucer 1/2 filled with water. Different plant species will have completely different water requirements. If I'd water my cactus or African violets every day they'd be dead pretty quickly. Keep researching your individual plant requirements as their nutrient and lighting needs will also be different from species to species. Good luck and keep researching..

  6. what plants are you wanting to grow?

  7. For humidity, I found that a small humidifier made a big difference for my indoor garden. If you're worried about mold, just keep an eye on air circulation and don't overwater.

When it comes to watering, I always check if the top inch of soil is dry before watering again. I usually water once a week, but it really depends on the plant. If you notice your plants are wilting or the leaves are yellowing, it might be a sign of over or under-watering.

For fertilizing, I use a balanced fertilizer and apply it every 4-6 weeks during the growing season. If your plants start looking a bit pale or aren't growing as well, it could be a sign they need more nutrients.

  8. There is much to consider. I would get your grow room just the way you want to before you fill it with plants, ie VENTILATION air in & air out, fans, humidifiers etc. Grow plants that have similar needs at the same time IF you want to mix different species. Different plants have different diseases/bugs. Speaking of bugs, be careful if you buy plants from big box stores (many have bugs) It would be better if you started your own plants from seeds. :metal:

  9. I would add do not go into your grow space if you were outside for any amount of time. Bugs like to hitch hike. You're going in the right direction....good luck. And remember, you can't grow beefsteak tomatoes with cherry tomato seeds. Genetics is everything.

  10. Stick to gardening advice. lol ;):passing-joint:

  11. When growing indoor marijuana plants, ensure they receive ample light—using high-quality LED grow lights for optimal results. Maintain a controlled environment with consistent temperature, humidity, and airflow, and choose well-draining soil or hydroponic setups for healthy root development. Be mindful of your plant's nutrient needs, adjusting feedings during different growth stages for the best yield!
