Hey all, how you hanging? I'm finally getting to the final stages of renting out a new apartment which will grant me so many more liberties than before. Thus I finally want to start growing like I always wanted to. I don't have my own house unfortunately so I have to deal with apartments (or apartment homes) thus I thought it'd be best to use a quality grow box with ample stealth features. I was hoping to buy a small one for the closet and deck out the exterior with Mylar and glass for preventative thermal leakage and the like; according to what bits I've read online. Unfortunately I'm in a multi-seasonal state that only allows consumption for medical purposes thus why I'm looking for a quality grow box instead of some $50 chinese market version, within financial reason of course; just to be on the safest side possible. But there's so many options out there, I'm not sure which to choose, so I thought you fine folks may pass some nawledge down to a complete noob to the grow game. What's your budget, do you want mother and clone space ie how do you plan to grow etc. Snoochie Boochies!
I would not consider stealth grow boxes to be a beginners hobby. It takes skill to keep a plant that wants to grow 2x2x4 smaller than it normally would grow in the hands of any normal gardener. And that 4 doesn't include the 10 inches of container on the bottom. If you don't have a closet the smallest tent I would recommend is 2x2x 67. And that is good for one beginner plant. The Growers House tents are of good quality and value. Anything sold as a "stealth grow box" will be designed for ignorant suckers.
well I'm willing to go up to $1500. I'd rather not go past $1K, but I will if quality and undetectability require it. I don't exactly know what mother and clone means but it sounds like something akin to reusing the same plant over and over, which would be a great thing to me. I was hoping to use the same plant(s) over and over to grow instead of having to always plant new seeds.....unless I want a different flavor of course.
A mother plant is basically any photo period plant that is kept under 18/6 (or longer) light so it remains in state of permanent vegetation (growing state) This allows you to take a cutting (clone) then grow and flower that, the cutting is a genetic clone of the plant it was taken from hense being referred to as clones. (like attached photo) The matte white back is perfect for the inside of the grow space and is available in a range of colours for the outside... It is also moisture resistant, fungal resistant and easy to clean and sanitise (after all it made for bathrooms and showers) This would come in somewhat cheaper still be very high quality construction and be very pro looking... lol that....looks like a shower. But my DIY skills are exclusive to custom PC building Most of the pieces come preassembles and mostly requires more brainpower, less manpower lol (I'm very rough with my hands lol). Otherwise I never done anything more than car maintenance. So don't know how much that counts.
I can tell you, I do all my DTW in the shower/bathtub and it is wonderful. If I had safe lights it would be no problem putting the plants on the floor while I take a shower, then back home behind the curtain. Lights.....
I built my first stealth grow box out of a big guitar amp.. took out the guts/speaker and there was sufficient space for a CFL grow.

Basically they don't! Thats why a stealth box isn't the best choice for a beginner (More crap to keep on top of, not just ph, nutes n light) Trying to keep a plant that wants to be the size of a short xmas tree in a space the size of a shoe box takes a lot of snipping and training!
