looking for a carbon filter / inline fan combo

  1. anyone know where i can find a good deal on a carbon filter and inline fan? im looking for a 4 inch model.

And is there any brands i should stay away from?

  2. same here. the cheapest ones seem to have mixed reviews.

some things to consider... how big is your grow area? intake air temps? lights(how much heat)?

  3. High Tech Garden Supply
i have this one and it works pretty good only 131$ shipped used rubber stoppers and it helped with vibrations all is heavy duty in construction

  4. small closet setup.. tent is 3 feet wide by less then 2 feet deep.. total of less then 30 cubic feet. intake air temps are about mid to high 60's.. 300 watts of light which is air cooled as my only exhaust ventilation, untill now. temps are a lil high but stay between 79 - 85..

starting to smell a lil bit so i know its time for the filter and better ventilation.. im thinking something small will work.. around 200 cfm with the filter should be fine..

    what do ya think>?

  5. whats the noise level like? anything you could compare it to? ive never used an inline fan before.. im assuming that if i vent into the attic then most of the air noise will be up there. the carbon filter ought to take care of noise on my end somewhat..

    any opinions would be appreciated..

  6. word. yeah 200 cfm should be plenty if you already have some ventilation moving air.

the one above is nice, but i'm positive it can be done for cheaper. those can fans are badass though. i'm not sure that much power is needed, but from what i've read, the more air you move, the bigger the buds.

look in toe DIY guides for some good carbon filters, if you decide not to pay for one outright.

  7. the carbon filter would go on the end of the line, so if you're venting to the attic it would be up there... i'm venting to my crawlspace, out of a closet the same size as yours so i'm debating using a carbon filter at all

  8. i like building shit .. especially in the grow room. but for now im kind of set on having something out of a box and delivered in the next few days. I have to work all week so i dont have much time to go shopping and build.

ive seen some great diy threads on filters. not sure the carbon i have access too is the best quality.. id rather purchase something from a reputable dealer....

i saw that one at htg.. probably gonna get something very similar. i know their prices are hard to beat but i thought maybe one of you guys might have a link for me.. figured it couldnt hurt to ask

  9. i dont think it matters weather you suck air in or push air out of the carbon filter.. could be wrong.. id like the filter to be in the grow room ideally with the fan and the noise in the attic..

probably build a soundproof box for the fan

  10. i hear ya man, gl

  11. Everything I've read, seen and heard has been to have the air pulled through the filter and not blowing into the filter. Basically having the scrubber on the intake side of your exhaust fan. I have also asked this question in the past and the answers I got back is what I'm passing on to you. Good luck.

  12. Look on ebay. HTG has a few filter/fan combos on there for about $20 less then their website. As far as were to put the filter, It is more efficent to suck air thru the filter then it is to push air thru, but can be used either way. I just put a filter in my 2x4x5 foot tent and my biggest problem was finding one small enough to fit in my tent, but had a high enough max CFM for my fan. G.L.
