Long Gun Registry

  1. Any other Canadians, or Americans paying attention to our politics, drawing any similarities between the war on drugs and the ending of the LGR? All the points that the Cons make in support of ending LGR seem like they could be applied to the war on drugs. These are a few quotes from politions regarding LGR just as examples, I'm sure there are a ton more. My question is, in relating the drug war and LGR, how can they end one and not the other?

It does nothing to help put an end to gun crimes, nor has it saved one Canadian life

    Wasteful of police resources

Does nothing to end gang activity

It criminalizes hard-working and law-abiding citizens such as farmers and sport shooters, and it has been a billion-dollar boondoggle

  2. NYC is doing something similarly with their CObis database. 44 million spent over 5 years and not one crime solved with it.
