Locks of Love

  1. So I've had a since is was 10. After high school I grew my hair to a kind of a Justin Bieber style. Now it looks more like a Jim Morrison style after not getting a haircut for 3 months. I decided in August that I'll have no more haircuts until I give 10 inches to locks of love. But my question was how do I grow it out. I've put it in a bro-band for 2 days a few weeks ago and everyone around campus kinda joked about it. I don't wear hats because I do want to go bald. How should I wear it until its long enough to put in a pony tail? What styles are there?

  2. Lol whats a bro band? Bandanas, beanies or just letting it do its thing work

A bro-band is a thin head band that's about 1/4 inch thick that a dude is wearing. Half of the people respected it and the other half said it looked gay.

  4. Gel and comb it straight back for greaser look, or just skip gel and comb back. Anything other than a sweatband type thing man they look sensible on tennis court but outside there you just look like you also need a helmet so you don't hurt yourself if you know what I mean. Bravo to you for your dedication to a good cause. Over the years I've given over 60 inches to them.

  5. Before you choose Locks of Love...

A couple recommended alternatives are Wigs for Kids, or Pantene Beautiful Lengths: Donate Hair for Cancer Patient Wigs.

Remember to take good care of your hair so it doesn't become too damaged for them to use. Use as little product in it as possible, and it's probably best to avoid the hair dryer. :p

    As far as styles...

You could do a bandana like OutOnTheTiles, or just let it do it's own thing and fuck what anyone else says. :smoking:

You should also know that hats don't actually cause baldness, but (according to that site) wearing a tight fitting hat while you're sweating for instance can cut off air circulation to your scalp and cause clogged pores which can "cause hair growth to slow down or even stop". So if you'd like to wear a hat, consider just getting a loose fitting one.

  7. Wow JD hadn't seen that information. Here locally to me I know the office I've dealt with is legit but sad to see some of them are not.

  8. I'm only going off of what I've read/heard, so take it with a grain of salt, but they kind of sound like the PETA of hair donation charities. :p

  9. JD sadly after seeing so many fake charities over the years and one point even having my own accountant suggest I use one, I would believe them scamming people. I wish there were more strict enforcement against false charities and other organization similar for not functioning in a truly charitable fashion.

As I said though a friend works for them here and I have seen the end result of my donation in person many times so perhaps a few of them are honest.

That's funny that you say that because I was actually donating to Pantene's beautiful lengths but I put Locks of Love instead because people know that more. But yeah I read that article a few months ago or atleast an article like that.
