So i had my wife call the garden store i use and to ask if they would trade my 1000w for a 400w(having heat issues) and the dumb bitch just told her to have me put a 400w bulb in there. Im debating on calling her back and letting her know not to tell people that. I dont want others being told incorrect info, doing it and fucking shit up. Thoughts?
You can use a lesser power bulbs with many 1000watt ballasts . . . I currently have a 600w ballast that works with 600w or 400w HPS/MH Lights
I have a sun system budget grow 2 1000w switchable ballast. I cant find any info about this ballast saying i can. I dont wanna fuck nethig up
I agree that it's always better safe than sorry. I would only do it if you know it's okay with your gear..maybe you should go in and chat with someone at the store and bring in your gear for a possible trade or to find out what's up? good luck tho, i completely understand what you're sayin. 1000watts is a VERY Hot situation
Its like an hour drive to the ahop tho and i can get a 400w mh for $20 at home depot but idk for poaotive it will work
i think only digi ballast can use diff bulbs but most of those have a wattage knob to lower it for diff bulbs id check with the ballast mfg and if they say its ok then go ahead they warranty it
My local shop told me I can run any bulb under 1000 watt in a 1000 watt ballast. I told her to keep her mouth shut tho. I would only do it if the ballast says you can.
only dimmable ballasts can use lower wattage bulbs, those are the ones you are referring to. That's pretty ridiculous that she gave such horrible advice like that. Around here the hydro store guys hire good looking girls to run the counter... maybe it's the same at the gardening place you called.

That's even worse... You should call back and say you took her advice and your bulb blew up... see what they say.
Well, it depends... a 1000w generates a lot of heat. Are you recycling the air in your grow room? What temps are the room you're pulling air in from? Is your light air-cooled? Some factors are more important than getting a better fan once you have so much already in a setup, that's when things like A/C are actually necessary. So really it depends on what the whole setup is like.

Have 2 9in fans at bottom of wall 1 4in fan on top 2 duct holes connected to my reflector with 1 4 in cpu fan 78cfm on thr reflector and a 4in high speed fan in the ducting on both sides one blowing in one blowing out. Prolly shoulda said this firat but yesterday took my ballast to the local shop(hour drive) they traded me my ballast(160.00) for a brand new 400w ballast (183.50) and a light for $30 so i paid the difference it ended up bein like 80. So i come home and take my 1000w mh bulb back to the electric store and they give me my $55 back so i basically just paid $25 and resolved my heat issues( around 90 max now). No seeds to start tho just workin on my room lol thats how you know your addicted to growing Edit: oh and the lady basically said ahe never said that but the young dumb blonde did so i politally(<spelled right?) Told her shes retarded and that shes gunna tell the wrong person and butn some shit up
