Local Dispensary Not Paying Vendors

Discussion in 'Marijuana Business and Industry' started by Roger The Shrubber, Aug 25, 2017.

  1. Trying to get some advice here. There is a local dispensary in my area that has not been paying vendors. I haven't been paid for 9 months and have read Yelp reviews of other vendors not being paid as well. Anyone have any experience with this? Or any helpful advice would be appreciated. I don't have money to hire a lawyer so that's not exactly an option at the moment.

    Thanks in advance

  2. No firsthand experience in the MMJ industry, but I am an executive at a company in a business professional industry. We charge all of our customers late fees on invoices not paid beyond our payment terms. This may have to be stated on the initial invoice in order for you to be able to do it. Additionally, we had one customer who was several months behind in payments. Working with our accountant, we wrote-off the value of all accounts receivable from the customer on our taxes that year, and we discontinued our business with them. Maybe this is an option for you?

If you don't mind sharing, what is the name of the dispensary so we can all boycott them?

  3. baconman1945, thanks I'll keep that as an option.
The name of the dispensary is Granny Purps in Capitola, CA. You can check out their Yelp reviews. You have to go into the hidden reviews, but I found many reviews saying the same thing, vendors being ripped off. They deserve a serious boycott so thanks again.

  4. I have worked at a shop that had this problem. The shop ended up closing and screwing all the vendors that were unpaid or had unpaid terms. This happens quite a lot in CA especially in cities where the whole legality is grey and you have places getting shut down all the time.

This is one of the problems with the whole dispensary sales game in CA, they always want to pay on Net 30/one month term, and then eventually something happens and it falls through one of them.

To any vendor out there dealing with multiple dispensaries, keep in mind one of those might just fail on you at some time. In NV, you probably could sue and win if this happens. In CA, might be worth trying to sue but not sure if court would throw it out.

  5. Shitty people doing shitty business.

Rally the other vendors and halt your sales?
    Take it to the streets!
