  1. Hey what's up everybody? This is going to be my first time growing and I just wanted to ask a few question if it's ok. I read alot of the threads here and I still can't understand anything. What I wanted to know is what's some good medium to grow my seeds in? Do I have to put more medium as the plant grows? How much water should I put in the plant? How often do I have to water it? And do I have to spray the plant with some nutrition or do I mix in the nutrition in the medium? If someone could answer these questions, big big thanks goes out to you. Again sorry for the questions, I read the threads here just very lost in them. I'm sure these questions been answered already but IM lOST!!! Lol thnx again

  2. don't worry man. i got you covered

assuming this is your first grow, your going to want to grow in fox farms ocean forest soil. first. you need to germinate your seeds. place the seeds in a coffee filter that was soaked in water with a ph of 6.5 (you'll need a ph tester, digital preferably). wrap the seeds up in the coffe filter and place in a ziplock bag. place the bag on top of your router (its warm) and wait two days. open the filter and your taproot will be coming out of the seed. then you want to get a solo cup, fill it with your new soil and place the seed 1 inch deep in the cup with the taproot facing down. cover the seed and wait two more days. you should have a sprout after two or three days. you want to water your new baby plant with ph adjusted water once every five days or so (wait until the soil is totally dry on top before watering, the biggest newbie mistake is overwatering). you want to keep your plant 4 inches away from a *daylight* (6500kelvin, blue color) cfl bulb thats 20 watts or so (or outdoors of course)
that is about all you need to go to get started. good luck!

  3. Hey thnx for the feed man but another question...how do I get ph adjusted water? And also how much soil should I use? How much water should I use to water the plant? Thnx again

  4. A good fertilizer free potting soil, some perlite and or vermiculite and some worm castings. As LittleGreenMan1 suggested, Fox Farms Ocean Forest is a great soil, but it's pricey and not always available to everyone.

You won't add more medium to your container, you will transplant to larger containers.

I try to water until a small amount of the water comes through the holes in the bottom of the container.

You water when the plants are thirsty. Every setup is different. An easy way to tell if your plants need some water is to stick your finger about 2" into the soil. If your finger comes out wet, wait a day or two and try again. If your finger is dry, you can water the plant.

Read the manufacturers instructions for your fertilizer.

    Good luck.

  5. Start with tap water. Let it sit out 24 hours. Test the PH. Adjust the PH up or down (using chemicals or organics). Let it sit for an hour or two. Test the PH again. If it is still not right, repeat the process. If it is not right a third time, start over with new water. Get it between 6.5 and 7.0 for soil.

Fill the container as close to the top as you can. Leave about 1/2" - 1" for soil float when you water.

    Good luck.

  6. And how do I know how much medium I should add? Or it doesn't matter? Like is there a key for example: 6" plant needs 1 gallon of medium. And when I transplant the plant to a bigger pot do I only move the plant or also the pot it previously grew in? Because I read somewhere I also transplant the pot into a bigger pot along withthe plant. Thnx

  7. I would leave at least one ince, I usually leave about 1 1/2 since the inside of the cup is white, this reflects more light at the sprout.

  8. Typically, you can assume a foot of growth per gallon of container space. For example, a five gallon pot can theoretically grow a five foot marijuana plant. Can't confirm whether this is absolute or not, but it's pretty basic knowledge to go on.

As for transplanting, here's the process: fill up your new container almost all the way with your growing medium, leaving a hole in the middle for the "root ball" from your plant. I use a dull knife to go around the outside of the smaller container to loosen it up. Gently take your plant by the base of the stem and try and slide it out. If there's resistance, don't force it. Holding the container sideways will help ease it out. Once you've got it out, break off any loose soil in the middle of the root ball, and any that may be on the edges. Place the plant, root ball and all, into your newly prepared container, fill in any gaps with some more medium, water till the medium is saturated, and give it a couple days to recover. Good luck!

  9. Ok I understand the planting process now, thanks to all of you guys. Now can anyone tell me what are some good nutritions to feed the plant to make it grow stronger, bigger? And also all plants grow different heights right? Because I wanna build a box for my plant but I have no idea what size to make it, can anyone help me with that? Once again lol thnx

  10. The Fox Farms "trio" pack of nutes (Grow Big, Big Bloom, Tiger Bloom) is very popular and does a great job, especially if you're using their Ocean Forest soil. There's a soil feeding gude here that tells when and what to feed your plants.

If you're building a box from scratch, you can't really build one that's too tall. Maybe at some point in the future, you'll want to grow a lanky sativa and need all the headroom you can get. Make your box as tall as possible. GL!

  11. ^^^ Agreed. Fox Farms has done the hard part, so all you need to do it follow their directions and keep the other things (temp, air, bugs, etc..) in check, for a good grow.

  12. Wow ok thank you guys I'm fully ready to begin my journey lol but a 3' in height and 2' in width will be good for Sativa plants?

  13. 3 feet in height for a sativa? Uh, no - more like 8 feet in height for a sativa! 3 feet is cutting it pretty slim for any strain really. Are there other factors, like stealth, physical location, etc. which would prevent you from building a taller box?

  14. If you want, you can train it to be as short as you want it or need it to be. Here is a tutorial by LBH, a fellow blade here, explaining how to accomplish this. You can still get monster yields from a short plant, you just gotta know how ;).
