im looking to build a cabinet in my closet. my closet may almost be 4' deep...plenty wide. so it its just short of 4' i was thinking of doing like 3 1/2' deep x 5' wide x 7' high does that make any sense. with a 6oow hps/mh conversion. and if you have any changes maybe? i still have the point of what material? shouldi do a fame from like 2x3/2x4? with plastic walls. or to a completely enclosed plywood cabinet? please let me know what you think..and let me know what adjustments you recomend...im really interested in this and am going to follow through and i would like to do it right
I vote for making a frame, as light as possible. 2X2's or something. Use some little metal brackets to beef up the corners. Wrap it up in panda film, make sure your light is air cooled, and your set. Use one of those light -tight zippers, or maybe velcro. Trust me, plwood sucks, its heavy, holds moisture, and its hard to deal with. also it is very unstealth to use a skill saw in your apartment. (personal experience) Anything else, fans, CO2, lights??
ya well my dimensions i came up with are: depth 2', widtch 4', and height 7', 8' possible but wnat to keep down to seven. im going to get a 600w hps/ with 600w mh conversion bulb. how many plants you thinking? and yes i am going with the plastic walls. and yes...is there any cheap ways of going with co2? and what are the expensive..if you have any good sites...hook it up back to light...ill have the 600 and doesnt have like a hook up for the exaust..and ill have a fan mounted to frame...to blow into attic..once smell starts...ill get carbon bag. but back to co2..whats my best bed...and how many plansts..i have 52 sqft. 8 sqft on ground...so what 8 plants? give me any suggestions if oyu think im forgetting....fill me in...first grow here
I also vote for a frame, lot less cost and no need for a box if its in the closet. If you have 8' of height available you may as well use it, you'll probably be glad you did. I say forget about the co2 for now, cost is high to do it right and to do it any other way seems to be a waste. I wanted co2 badly and don't mind wasting money but it seemed like a losing battle unless "I" spent over $1000. IMO to do it right you need a good co2 controller that monitors the co2 level and keeps it there, you want no ventilation for the grow space, just blow air through the light to keep it cool. If you vent the grow space to drop the temp you'll be going threw lots of co2 which means always refilling it which could raise eyebrows, that was my biggest worry. If you don't vent the grow space your co2 would last a lot longer. That means you need an AC to keep the grow space at an optimum 75f, plus you have to worry about humidity levels. Who knows how that would pan out, you may need a humidifier or dehumidifier, although the AC would likely act as a dehumidifier. So all that adds up, but if you have money then I say go for it, it sounds to me like you could make it work and it would be stealth as you have the attic to store lots of equipment. Of course if you don't mind refilling all the time then vent away and forget the AC, but a good co2 controller is necessary. Since its your first grow adding co2 might be a little too much, if you maintain a good environment for them you'll get good results that way. I think 8 plants is too many, 4 would probably be better, these things do get big. More plants doesn't necessarily mean more bud. You'll probably need a reflector you can vent, a 600w would throw off a lot of heat, excellent choice though. I have a 400w and the air coming out the vent from it is quite warm, just like what would come out of your furnace almost. Thats nice you can vent right into your attic from the closet, I'm sure that will make life easier. You'll definitely want a vortex fan, 6" would probably be best. I'm using a 4", it was more then enough for my smaller box but my new box it's just enough and I don't have a carbon filter on it yet, its about the same size as your space with a smaller light. Sounds like you'll do good, you might want to look into scrog for the plants too, you'll probably get more out of them. Hope this helps some.
