Little bit of a noob question

Discussion in 'Cannabis & Weed Edibles: Cooking & Recipes' started by gnome., Oct 26, 2010.

  1. I've been reading about cannabutter/edibles for a while and I've seen a lot of conflicting guides. Some say to simmer the butter for a few minutes, some say 24 hours, some are mostly water, some have no water whatsoever.
Would it work to grind the weed into a powder and just add to melted butter and stir for a few minutes? After that i would add sugar and milk to make frosting for cupcakes or something . It sounds to me like that should be enough to dissolve the thc into the fat, but looking at some recipes i may be wrong. Anyone willing to lend their expertise?

  2. I've made more than a handful of baked goods now, no pun intended...

before i got my coffee grinder, i would just grind up in my manual grinder.

it's at least 24 hrs between putting the weed into the butter before using the better

i usually let it simmer (every bubble now and then) for a couple of hrs. let it cool, leave it in the fridge and then a couple of hours before i bake, i let the butter simmer on the stove top.

    so far, they've been deadly

from what I've research, it's above 220F for the THC to be activated.

try a few variations and see which ones are your preferred method. lots of stickys on how to create cannabutter.
